So Many Changes

Well guys!  I accepted the job I have been delaying.  With my A relapsing, there is no time like the present to really start taking care of myself.  I need to make sure all my bases are covered, financially and with insurance, etc.

My Grandson is due to arrive March 5th, I start my new job March 6th, and my 2nd oldes ships out March 6th.  My mom is waiting for the oncoligist to call her back.  Although my A is making an effort to be there after his Friday night thing, it's hard for me to relax with him.  I guess I am so focused on me and mom that I just don't want to share with him, in the past it never has mattered and now I feel like if I do share it will all be forgotten when he has his next drink.

Hugs Mary

Good luck with your new job!

I'm sorry to hear about your husband's slip.  Sounds like you are handling all pretty well though!  Take care of you!  You help so many people out here! I wish you the best.

Well done Mary, and glad to see you taking back the reins, on the things within your control...

Your comment of "no time like the present" reminded me of a cool story, as told by an AA member at a rally a few years back.  This lady was about 55, and something like 15 years sober.  When she was 45, she was asked by her sponsor if she had any unfulfilled dreams, to which she responded "I always wanted to be a nurse".  Her sponsor asked her why she didn't pursue that now, to which the lady replied "by the time I got through my schooling and training, I would be 50!".  The sponsor told her, with a straight face "well, to the best of my knowledge, you will be turning 50 at that time regardless!"

I love repeating that story, as we so often make up "false barriers" as to why we won't or aren't doing things....  This speaker was a (very) proud nurse, became one at the age of 50 years and 8 months, and was looking forward to the next 10 years of fulfilling her dream.

Take care

Tom

Hi Mary,

I feel like you do would everything going on at once. You have such a great attitude. I have to pull back and say how can such neat things being going on at the same time such scarey and difficult things be going on at the same time. Godspeed as they say. And what a better time then to take care of yourself.

In support,

Nancy
