The emotions are all over the place tonight.

Son brought home a paper today saying he'll be in honors classes next year when he enters the high school! Yup Im proud/happy

However, husband is in the basement getting drunk.

Congrats to your son.  What a wonderful accomplishment for him.  And an accomplishment for you as well.  Enjoy your sons success.  You cant do anything about what your husband is doing.  He unfortunately is the one missing out on the happiness and it is his loss - dont make it yours and your sons.

Congrats again

Barbara,

Congrats on your son's honor classes, what a proud mom u must be. As hard as it may be, forget about the drunk downstairs a minute and enjoy your son's accomplishments.

At least I am doing good with one of them? Barbara your not the reason your husb drinks, it's not about doing good or not. nothing u do can change another person.  Your not powerful enough to make him drink or STOP.

This is not yours to fix anything u try is doomed to fail because it's not your problem. His drinking is his problem and he is the only one that can make that stop.   give  son a big hug that is quite an accomplishment for him .   Louise

Congrats for your son!!! That is wonderful news. Too bad about your husband; he doesn't know what he's missing. At least you and your son can be happy together about that!
