Tradition and Concept Question

Hello all-
I have a question..

Anyone know how I may tie in Tradition 2 with Concept 4 ???
I am drawing a blank with this.

Or what does Tradition2 and Concept 4 mean to you?

I'm SO sorry no one has answered your question... IMHO trad 2 is obvious but I do not have a list of the concepts...  would u be so kind as to post them?

Then I could copy them down & gve it some thought, I don't think I've ever seen them anywhere!

Trad 2, says we are servants of God & ultimately HP is the leader of our group... that I understand.  There is NO authority greater than HP.

love, -Kitty

This is an interesting question, Tea, thank you for posting.

Here is my take on things:-

Tradition 2

For our group purpose there is but one authority - a loving God as he may express Himself in our group conscience. Our leaders are but trusted servants; they do not govern.

Concept 4

Participation is the key to harmony.

Now, the way I see it - as a group - whether a f2f group, a district, an area, or an online group - there will be an overriding "feel" - a flavour, almost, each group is different, and, they all have something to offer. So, our collective HP expresses "himself" in a particular way, according to the group with whom we are sharing. Now, we are not perfect (haha, think you might have guessed that!) - sometimes, our groups can get into difficulties, but, no-one is "in charge" or owns the group - we elect people to positions, because we trust them, they are there to serve us, not to be our bosses.

Where I think the concept comes into play is - we have to be willing to take our part in the group, maybe take on some service, wash the dishes, be a key holder, bank the takings, pay the rent, etc etc.

What I sometimes find is this, some people will willingly take on service - some will do nothing, not just because they too busy, lazy - but, they think the others WANT to do the service, or, they feel the service people in control, or, they too shy/afraid to offer.

Mmmmm, this has become more difficult than I thought!!! Basically, if everyone takes a turn at doing everything, i.e. participates, there will be no worries about trusted servants, we would all have done something, so, we realise, this service is a privilege, our group members trust us to carry it out, to the best we can.

As you may know, I am not a believer, as in religious believer. Tradition 2 is of help to me - I recognise the power of the group - for some, not me, this can be their personal Higher Power - what I like about this tradition is, "as He may express Himself in our group conscience." I go to several groups, they all different, all have a certain spirituality.

Going to leave it there, think I am rambling!!!! I know what I mean, lolol

Thank you for bringing this up. Sometimes, I can get a bit blase about the program, it is good to take time to reflect.

Lots of love,

Flora

PS Had reason, recently, to say, over and over, Principles Above Personalities!!! Tradition 12 - Was hurt, felt rejected..... an alanon committee thing, but, the program is there, if we work it. It helps to air these thoughts online. Thanks for your post.
