Jcon here, need some help. I am looking for a sponsor and the meetings that i can attend I am the only guy there. Need some suggestions or help in maybe finding an online sponsor temporarily until i can get one where i live or something. Any and all help is appreciated. I just know i need someone who has been in the program for a long time and knows what they are doing because Lord knows i dont most of the time. Thanks
Hmmmm, well as I don't have an online sponsor, I can't help with that. I never really noticed that as a problem, but being female, I guess I wouldn't. Anyway- What I have seen in my area is that the men who come in have used a woman as a sponsor. We have this woman who we look at like a mother, she has been in alanon I think for 25 years. Anyway she usually offers to be a temp sponsor for the guys until they find another. I know it is suggested that we find a same sex sponsor, but in some areas that is not possible. I beleive that is why it is a suggestion. I know that this situation works here, and it may not be possible for you, but just a thought.

Every guy I've talked to in the Alanon room has the same trouble.
I think I am going to end up with an online sponsor to work my 4th and 5th steps, and I am okay with that even if some other people aren't. (It's my program, not theirs.) I haven't given up hope on finding someone in f2f, but it won't be in my town.
