brother didnt make it to Bridgewater - chestpains went to Lemuel Shattuck Hosp

On the way to Bridgewater brother complained of chest pains. They brought him to Lemuel Shattuck. He spoke w/my mother. She says he sounds broken. They had him in leg irons & cuffs. He is up on assault & battery charges, not domestic abuse charges (which is the same, right?) He wants my mother to call a lawyer to have the charges lessened. His arrest was published in his town newspaper. He says he'll never get a job now.

(((((((((((Barbara)))))))))) Let your mom know he can get free legal assistance. Some people in jail can make collect phone calls home. Be aware of this! If your mom accepts them it can cost her alot of money before she knows it! Maybe you can ask the prosecutor to block her phone number. It is different in each state. My daughter was in jail for 3 times when her drinking was at it's worst. The 3rd time we called the police on her and they came and got her from our house. She would get very violent when she drank and blacked out. She spit at us and the one police officer wanted us to make assault charges. I am not sure about battery but I have heard that it is a felony to assult an elderly or disabled person. Alot of attorneys give one free visit in our state so maybe you can find one or they will answer your quetions on the phone. Just know the right thing was done! If he has trouble getting a job then that is his logical consequences. People need to be accountable for their actions. Keep us posted and take care of you! Prayers still on the way! cdb xoxoxoxoxo

((((((Barbara)))))   lots of hugs going out to you right now.

Sorry to hear of your brother's chest pains.  What a terrible situation you are in right now.

This too shall pass.

Please know that all of us love you and are here for you!

I have had to go to court and watch my son in shackles and chains, and it's terrible.  I truly hope this will be the intervention that will cause him to really want the help.

Love to you.

Chest pains were probably panic at actually going to phyc ward .  Perhaps he should have thought about his job before he abused his mother ?? charges have been laid by the police your mother cant' drop them now its out of her hands.    * hugs to you and your family*

((((Barbara)))),

Im sorry to hear all that you are going through.  In MA assault & battery are more serious charges than domestic abuse.  However, if this is first offense he should only do the 30 days.  Please try to focus on yourself during this difficult time.  Remember your mother and brother each have their own HP's that they can rely upon.  I hope they can find them in their lives and begin to recover for themselves.

Oh Barbara - feel sad for you.

It is out of your hands, now - you can, of course, help him get the legal assistance he needs, but, it sounds like he is going to be kept against his will, one way or the other.

I know nothing about the law in USA. Maybe, if he goes to psych ward, it will help his case, in court? Think the chest pains probably panic, but, they have to be checked out, all the abuse may have damaged his heart.

Take care of you - this is such a stressful time - my son never had leg irons (not used much here in UK), but, he left my home in handcuffs, it was so upsetting. The good thing is, he got the medication he needed, he is well, at the moment, and, it DID pass - as does everything.

Just keep this in mind - things could not continue as they were - maybe this will take lots of courage, but, one way or another, at least you will be making progress - nothing changes if nobody changes.

Lots of love, keep posting, thinking of you,

Flora

Thank you everyone. I did call my mother earlier today to check on her. She's tired and emotionally drained. She called the courthouse and was told to take care of herself, rest. She hadnt heard from my brother yet so we dont know yet about the stress test. Mother didnt realize Lemuel Shattuck is also a rehab hospital. Maybe this is better for him than Bridgewater and he can finish out here. She is more accepting that he wont be home for at least 30days.

Thank you
