I've at least 20# to lose.  I don't want to be known as his fatty, but rather his wife who needs to lose 20#.

I'm trying so hard to see that in him.  I'm not married to an alcoholic.........I'm married to a man who has alcoholism.

When I think of it this way, it makes me realize we are both human with flaws.   Just wanted to share that.

Deanna,

I have a few pounds to lose myself.  I am the one who calls me fat.  I need to stop the negative self talk.  Join a gym and get mysef into better shape.  I did good today on my vow to eat better.  I love many people with alcoholism.  I also love me.  So I am going to do this for me!

Hi Deanna,

I can relate to that way of seeing past the disease to the person. I lost 45 pounds in the last year and a half ... 20 to go. I know how I feel about my flaws, and can understand how he must feel a little more now. Thank you.

Jennifer

Hey Deanna,

What a nice way to turn it around.  Noone likes to be labeled.  I certainly wouldn't want to be known as "his chubby little codependent wife".  Yes, I do have "issues", but they do not define me.  Rather I would like it that I am me, Michelle.  Just me.  I know my A does not like the label.  See the person not the disease.

Thanks for this,

Michelle
