living in the present

i would like to know how you keep it in the moment and be grateful with all that i have been blessed with rather than focusing on the past and future. i feel quite positive today and would like to delight in the present moment with my daughter.I would like to see my life as a blessing rather than a tragedy or a time bomb waiting to explode at any time.

((((hopeful))) the greatest help to me in this respect was writing a gratitude list every day. I would write at least ten things I was grateful for and why every day, and if I was having a particularly bad day I would write more. Over time this gave me the gift of perspective, and I learned to focus on the positive, because that is what brings me peace with the present.

Best of luck to you,
Kristen

The fact that you are asking shows you have made the first step.
I have found that I tend to use the sky to center me. When I find myself burrowing away in those destructive thought patterns, I take a breath, and look up, look out the window. It's amazing how often the light, the colour, the cloud patterns, are so beautiful, and give me that instant of connection to my higher power that I need.
Another thing I did for a while was carry an alanon coin in my pocket. It's the same size and type as the coins AA's get for 30 days, a year, etc. I could put my hand in my pocket and get that 'alanon' feeling, just for a second.
When you find something that works for you, keep using it, and it will get stronger.
