Silent Night,All is calm

Dear Family,

The hard days are over for now and all is peaceful and calm. My son was out in the cold all week. no where to bath,shave,brush his teeth or sleep other than my car. I provided him with food but made it very clear to him that he needed to follow through with his commitment of a residental drug program because he was homeless. He searched for other alternatives but he has no one. No one was willing to give him shelter. His mood swing fluctuated from angry to just not talking.

He had a court appearance 150 miles from here on Tuesday and I drove him there. The drive was peaceful and quite neither one of us said much. there was no hostility in the air and it was a beatuiful weather day but at the end of the day he was still homeless and had to sleep outside. The judge gave him an option find a placement by Friday or go to jail. So he came home and got busy the next few days to make sure he convienced probation and the drug program that he was serious about getting sober so they would give him a bed.

I took him in on Friday morning. He was ready and in good spirits. The anger was gone and all he wanted was for me to take him shopping for a few things he thought he would need.He had packed and organized a suitcase.

I heard from him today he asked if I could possibly bring by some cigarettes. I told him I would and than I heard those magic works," That you Mom" I said your welcome I love you and he said I love you too.

I have all that all I could possibly ask for and I am grateful. Prayer works and determination helps. It wasn't easy knowing he was outside in the cold, sleeping sitting up in the car. I may be powerless against his decision to us the drug but I do have the power to stand my ground and not make his suroundings comfortable and I do have power over the boundries that I set for myself sending him a strong message saying I have no more tolerance TO DRUG USE!!!

So tonight I rest and sleep easy. Tomorrow will take care of it's self.

Taking one day at a time,

Rosa

Hello rosa,

Wow! Your shares have been so inspiring! You are a very strong woman and I admire you alot for all you have done to not enable your son. The last time my daughter went to treatment and got serious was after we finally called the police on her and had her taken to jail from our house. IT was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. I see now how it helped her and helped me. Your story shows how this detatching with love really does work! They are the only ones that can save themselves but we are the ones that need to work our program too so not as to enable this horrible addiction that takes over them. I also can feel the strong NO to drug Use and tolerance too! I hope I can follow through on things like you have if and when it may occur again in my life. Thank you so much for sharing your story and being such an inspiration! cdb (((((((Rosa)))))

Rosa, I am joining in prayers to HP that this time is "bottom" for your son and that you (and he) never have to go through this again.  {{{{{{{{{{{Rosa}}}}}}}}

I greatly admire your courage and strength.  I am so glad your son was able to find a program.  It must be nice to be able to sleep soundly at night knowing where he is, knowing he is safe and warm (of his own choosing) and hving quiet at your house.  Happy holidays

  Thank-you for the update and strength and hope.  Enjoy your serenity.  I know how much it means to know that our loved ones are safe.  You and your son are in my prayers.
