unreasonable-women's issues

this week the guilt is hitting me. i have been totally unreasonable and difficult to live with due to pms. i just cant hold anything in. im getting angry over the stupidest things and just yell. i feel horrible for my recovering a having to deal with this. he is doing well by just letting it go and ignoring me when i get like this. i apologize when i catch myself and remind him i wont be like this in a few days it's just the effects of my little visitor. lol. any women out there have any ideas that can help minimize the effects. or help me to relax? and be normal again. lol ---my mind right now lol

gee and I still have pms after hysterectomy, must be for fun!  Wish  there was a magic pill for you. Might want to try herbs, black kohash and lavendar, with plenty of magnesium, iron, calcium and zinc.

I will tell you my experience.

1.  I have my husband hide all knives, scissors, needles, sticks, pans, clubs, and tools 1 week prior to my period....

Just kidding..

1.  I carefully mark on the calendar when my crankyness starts.  (I put PMSB) (B- for Bitchies of course)

2.  I also carefully mark when I start the flow. (usually when the crankies stop, and the blues start)

3.  I count 28 days ahead of my PMSB day, and hilight it in yellow, blue, or whatever I feel like it, I also tell my husband what it is, and where to look (he loves knowing what the heck is going on!!)

Now that I have been tracking it for a number of months, I prepare myself with diet.  I don't buy junkfood the week before my PMSB start because I don't want the temptation.  When I drink real juice and eat real food (rather than pop and chips etc) I notice a dramatic improvement in the physical symptoms, therefore lessening the mental ones.

I also start taking 500mg of Vit B6 and B12 2-3 days ahead of my cranky start, and pump up the water intake, and lessen the coffee. the day i start being cranky I start Evening Primrose Oil (supposedly helps with the cramps once it starts)

NOW, l will be honest.  I don't stop coffee, I don't totally eat well, I am just conscious through this time of the month.

It seems that it comes all too quickly for my poor husband and my kids.

I did have medication previously for this, as my PMSB can be quite unreal (I pulled a Fried Green Tomatoes once and crashed my car....) but found that the side effects of the medication were not worth it for me.

Most of all, I am open and honest with my family.  I have done what I can for them.  if they don't put me in a hotel for 5 days, then they choose to live with me, just as I choose to live with the alcoholic.  They know when it is coming, and how hard it can be, I have done what i canBut, my marraige is still in tact..for a few more days, anyhow

(still waiting for the hotel....)

This is what I do.  i would be interested in a better solution, if anybody has one, cause mine works, but not as good as I wish...

For me it's salt, caffeine, lack of exercise, and uncomfortable clothing. If I make a real effort to eat right, and to get outside for some air, sun and exercise, it is much more controllable.

Exercise, fresh air and sunlight works for me. I am a walker, so it needn't be strenuous excercise.

(My dogs love "that" time of the month as they get a walk or two everyday!  )

I also use my shower for relaxation therapy!  This may sound a little odd but when I first hop in, I let the water run from my head to my toes and as the water runs over me I consciously let all tension wash away with the water! I have done this for ages and it really works for me, and I do it for all kinds of stress not just PMS. It's a mini meditation I suppose and almost a physical "letting go".

Hope that helps.
