Here is a link to some resources.

In NJ it is 50/50. I don’t know about Ma.

Do you think he will leave if you ask him?

Mine wouldn't........

I've been to two layers in NJ.

While we are generally a 50/50 state, you can get more then 50% if you get the kids.  I even spoke to the lawyer about some creative offers where I'd keep freeze her portion of house assets bases on today's price and not be required to pay it off until after the kids have left the house.   He said that I might even get the house and car if I got the kids because I wouldn't be able to find comparable housing for less than my mortage.

If I do get a divorce, I'm not worried about the asset split.  I'm worried about custody, (I should have it), visitation (should be supervised until she gets her crap together), the house so the kids have a place to live.

It's amazing, my alcoholic can't work, but when I cut her off from the money train, she is gonna try to work now so she can drink.  Well, knowing this suck ass disease, it's not so surprising.

Barbara, call around.  Many lawyers give a free initial consult.  Go to multiple lawyers.  You'll get a better feel of your options and personalities of different lawyers.

Barbara,

Every state is different. You have to speak to an attorney in your own state.
