things i love about my husband

Hi I live with an active alchoic. When he is not drinking he is the best friend. He listen he is funny, he cuddles with me at night. He loves to give hugs. Those are things I love about him. He does the cooking and he does the bills. Those are too things I do not do. He helps clean he never wants me to do all of it. He doesn't mind that I don't wear makeup. He is ok when I gain weight. Of course when he drinks he is very verbal abuse but those are the days I have to work on myself and not let him get to me. People tell me why do I stay. I still love him. I still love to sleep next to him in bed, cuddle, get and give hugs, wait for him to come home from work,  I can't wait to see him at night when I get done with work. I love talking to him on the phone. Those are things I love about him.

That is so sweet!  I love my a very much as well!  He can be a fun and good guy when he is sober too!  That's what I try to remember when the drinking comes around again.  He has been sober for a month now.  It has been really nice.  Attitude seems to be changing again though so we might be headed for a slip, but I am going to try to stay positive and worry about what I can do for me and my family.  I will try to remember his "good" side!!!!

Thanks for the great things you said about your husband.

I also live with a alcoholic. You could be talking a bout my husband i can say all those things about him. But when he drinks he still is sweet but very drunk i can't stand it. I lived with my father being a alcoholic and when i see my husband drunk all i see is my father. This is a good week for me he hasn't drank in 4 days, and i wonder why. So i know how it feels to love someone that sweet. Hope you have good days ahead of you.

That was so nice to read, thank you. It's pretty easy sometimes to remember why we can't stand them, or why we resent them, so it's nice to remember why we love them, too.
I'm going to add a few from me -
I love my A because he is always proud of me when I do well at something. Even at his sickest, he has never tried to diminish my triumphs in order to build himself up.
I love my A because he is never in too much of a hurry to stop and look at something interesting by the side of the highway, and he has a nice broad definition of 'interesting'.

The attitude of gratitude.  I read this post and have to agree with you!  I too live with an active A, but I love him so very much.
