Snow!!

Yesterday we got our first snow fall.  This morning when I got up and the sun was comming up the snow was so beautiful!!!

What is good is that it is not too cold which makes it even nicer!!!

I was not looking forward to winter but today made it a bit easier to appreciate it for the beauty!!

Aahhh, now that's something I truly miss from time to time living in Florida....but not enough to live a winter with it...HA!  Just kidding around, but honest!   I love to visit the snow.

Truly, just having your image of a first snowfall in your post is a beautiful thing in my mind.  Brings back many memories....Thank you!

I agree.  I also live in Fla now having been born and raised on Long Island, Ny up until 7 years ago.  I actually get depressed this time of year because here it is Nov 2nd and it's still 80 degrees here, meanwhile up north the beautiful fall foilage is going on and the crisp cool air, I miss all of it.  Most of all the snow you described with the sun shining on it.  Covering up all the uglies of the town and blanketing everything in beautiful pure white.  Gawd I miss it!!  Thanks for sharing.

JJ,

The sweetest memories I have of my parents involve snow. Now that they are no longer here, I cheerish those memories even more. When it would snow, my Mom would make rice pudding in the oven (we are not talking lo-cal here kids), and we'd turn on the floodlights to the backyard late at night. We had this massive bird feeder that Dad built, and Mom and I would watch all the critters come around (rabbits, deer, birds), read aloud by candlelight (with pewter candlesticks, and beeswax candles) and eat rice pudding. With Dad he would build a great big bonfire in the back (when that use to be legal) and we would sit around it while we waited for the potatoes to cook in the ashes (we wrapped them in foil), and lay there with the dogs until it got too cold to stay there (which in days was never, as I was incredibly content). I can't wait to go walking late at night and enjoy the stillness, or break out the snowshoes. Hey, if you're going to live in New England you've got to love the snow!

Thanks for reminding me. I sit here typing this with a big grin on my face, and a little ache in my heart because I love them and miss them so much. But that's okay, because I know they are with me always.

Live strong,
Karilynn
