How common it is for us to be overly concerned with our looks. The culture encourages it through our families, our friends, and the media. Many of us anguished over our looks in years past, and the pain of fading youth haunts some even now.Perhaps it's time for us to take special note of the women we admire for their achievements. We should emulate them, honor them, and celebrate their particular beauty--a beauty generally enhanced by dignity, perseverance, and courage.
######ROSIE.....i used to be obsessed with my look, becuz thats all i heard growing up was about my *movie star* looks......i was a child actor on stage all around new england where we were living...( B 4 the worst) and people would gush over me and my male co-star who was also my boy friend (we were 9,10 and 11 when we were acting).....life at that time wasn't so bad...i could get away from the monster when i was on stage......NOW, it is funny, i am an *older girl* at 59, i look young 40's, still catch the eye of males, but it is not so important to me anymore!!! like i want them to love my *head--heart* etc....when i had my friend over this past few days.....he mentioned my still being beautiful, but the thing that impressed me the most was his being proud of me getting into recovery and *turning out soooo good* he really said, i was a *sweetheart of a gal* THAT impressed me more than the physical......i am *growing up*
We can cultivate our special interests. They'll contribute to our achievements, which will add depth to our soul--the home of true beauty. Mature persons who acknowledge this true beauty are those we wish to attract into our lives. How fickle is the beautiful face! And even more fickle is the one who can see no deeper.Youth and its beauty are fleeting. Not so the beauty of the developing character; time strengthens it. The program makes character development not only possible but also simple. Every Step, any Step, offers us an opportunity to take charge of our lives, right now.I will remember, it's who I am inside that truly counts in the lives of others.
########ROSIE.....i feel more pleased when folks mention my character/ my *substance* stuff over my *physical-form* stuff.....i am gaining beauty withIN....the most important part!!!! i used to absolutely freak if i got a pimple!!! now??? if i get one??? i say the slogan "how important IS this???" and after that, i don't even notice!!!!! i want to get *beautiful* inside!!!! this program can make roses out of ANYone who is willing to put in the time!! the effort!! the work on the most important thing to me----- ME!! my recovery--- my taking BACK my life---- i work the steps.....NOW steps 4 through 10 don't scare me.....i do regular steps 4 and 10......its ok now.....i see new flowers growing with each passing week/month being in recovery.......and THIS beauty won't fade.......it won't wrinkle........and my moisturizer is the 12 steps.....AND i am taking this beauty with me when i go home!!!! thank you DONE
