The money crunch is temporarily over...thank you!!
The postal service has been too slow getting it to me...
In the meantime, i have been learning the town. I may have a place to park and sleep that i will check out tonight. If it pans out it will save a LOT of gasoline. A woman on the train sent me to a place that had a second resource list, larger than the original, so will need to organize with that. Some may criticize me for taking freebies...being homeless necessitates such actions! Once I check some of theose places, I may get connections to other places and resources too.
Once Thursday is over, I may not need to have the frantic pace I've had since the 11th. Not a bad ten days work tho, I will say. To recap:
Obtained $100 in food stamps good to Sept. 9 (grievance/appeal hearing Thursday)
Changed online job search robots to Portland and am applying online for jobs.
Have used transit sytem extensively to locate resources such as grocery store chains.
Attended 5 face to face al-anon meetings (3 in OR, 2 in WA)...
Met with CCC (Central city concern) to try to arrange jobs and housing. Placed on wait list for low cost housing; job hunt orientation Thursday.
Obtained temporary mailing address.
Obtained Multnomah County, OR and Fort Vancouver/Clark County, WA library cards for purpose of obtainig net time. Clark County is having security problems with chatroom so will have to wait till they fix it.
Driven all Interstate highways in area and tried to familiarize with highway system here.
Obatined places to park and sleep.
so now you know why I need to wind down...bwahahaha...

Hi - I'm kinda new, but noticed you applied for housing. It used to be in TX. that if you applied in a smaller county - say, Collin Co. as opposed to Dallas county, the wait list is shorter, because there are less people trying to get housing. I don't know how the rules are there. Also, used to be if you had 2 or 3 friends write letters to say how long they knew you & that you were homeless & letters were certified or something -that bumped you up on the list. You may already know all this, but I figured in case you didn't it wouldn't hurt to check it out with your rep.
