I am so sorry for the pain you are having to endure.

You start by working on you.  Look at the 12 steps.  You will find as you work on these you will find peace and serenity.  Do you have a school counselor you can go to that will help you find Alanon or Alateen meetings?

I wish I had an easy answer for you. One thing to remember, she is not you. She may have made some very bad choices in the past, and may still be making them, but they are not your choices.
If you can get to an alateen meeting, or even to the online alateen chats, I know that you will find some help. You're not alone with this, there may not be anyone at your school willing to admit that they have these problems at home too, but believe me, they are there. Keep coming back, we care about you.

Princess,

I am so sorry you're having to go thru this pain!  I am not in your situation, but everyone in town AND my husband's family knew that he was an alcoholic, EXCEPT me, until the day of his dui arrest.  I didn't even know he drank, if you can believe that.  He always denied that he drank.  We had been married for about 3 1/2 years at that time, and all of a sudden I can't contact him via his cell phone - his dad had it, because he had to go get the family work truck that my husband was driving when he got pulled over, and he had to leave his stuff in the truck.  So imagine my surprise when his dad answered the phone and said that my husband was in jail for dui!  I thought for sure he was referring to his other son, who WAS an alcoholic, not my husband, who did NOT drink! (lolol)  Now, 2 years and another dui and 1 month in treatment and 5 months in jail later, he is in recovery.  So, I feel your pain, but in a different way.  I know how DEVASTATING, HUMILIATING, EMBARRASSING, PAINFUL this all can be, to think you knew someone, especially someone you lived with, only to find out differently.  I can only say that by becoming involved in Al Anon and some open AA meetings, and by lots & lots of reading of Al Anon literature, and by praying to my Higher Power (mine is God), I can finally have some sense of calm in my life.  I will pray for you!  Take care and keep coming back to this site.  And find some kind of meetings to attend or participate in online if you have to.  Don't give up, you're worth MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more!  I remember thinking that I wanted to make sure people knew that I was not like HE was, I didn't drink, etc., etc., etc.  But you know, it really doesn't matter what people think of me, I know that I am a good person, and that I am worth it!!!!!!  You are worth it as well!

Lovingly,

Kathi

Hi Princess ,  people can be cruel - why people would want to tell a daughter that is beyond me.  It really doesn't matter  does it?, she is your mom and you love her thats all that matters, Don't listen to others gossip , just walk away.   Your not responsible for her behavior either , so don't take on the guilt and shame of her disease.

I hope u are going to some meetings for yourself and perhaps even an open AA meeting where u will hear women is sobriey  share thier stories . it may help to understand just where your mom is comming from.   good luck  keep comming here and sharring what is on your mind with us.   take care of you    Love Louise

((((((((Princess)))))))))),

Have you been to any meetings? Alanon, alateen? What about talking with a counselor at school?

Working through the pain and realizing that the "A" is not hurting you on purpose helps.

I will pray for you.
