The Upside of Anger

A movie recommendation...if you haven't seen "The Upside of Anger" and are up for a good movie, this is with Joan Allen and Kevin Costner.  Powerful, funny, thoughtful, wise.  Best movie I've seen in some time.

Here are the last words by the youngest daughter in this movie:

"Anger and resentment can stop you in your tracks.  It needs nothing to burn but the air and the life that it swallows and smothers.  It's real though...the fury.  Even when it isn't, it can change you, turn you, mold you and shape you into someone you're not.

The only upside to anger then is the person you become.  Hopefully someone who wakes up one day and realizes you're not afraid of its journey.  Someone who knows that the truth at best is a partially told story.  That anger, like growth, comes in spurts and fits.  And in its wake leaves a new chance at acceptance and the promise of calm.

Hope things are going better for you today.

Yeah, I want to be working on the solution instead of dwelling on the problem, too.  What a nice mantra.  My A is sober...10 years off, 4 years on, and now 1 1/2 years off.  But, I want to concentrate on me and my recovery...

My A is expensive to "keep" even when he's not drinking...so I know your despair.  Hope you find an anwer to that!!!! for us both.

Good luck, Gen
