I wish I could have gone. My sister and her husband are there. I had to work and couldn't really aford to take the day off and pay for the conference. A friend of my sister's said he went to register on Thursday and the energy just from those there to register was amazing. You will have to tell us all about it.

The world Conference was amazing.

my first as I have only been in alanon for 4 1/2 years.  Met people from Australia, Scotland, Ireland, United States..........over 60,000 people were in the skydome for the flag ceremony on Friday night.  over 90 countries out of 180 were present.  the guy from Croatia was holding an invisible flag as they don't have one yet.  cute.  every where we walked in the downtown core, someone had a tag around their neck.  every one of them clear-eyed, clean-shaven and beautiful.  serenity in massive number!

Listened to speakers from all over the world too.  I can't put into words the feelings this weekend evoked..........aside from HOPE.  We are very young in this movement of AA and Alanon.  It is sweeping the planet.  They say this century will be more remembered for the 12 steps than for anything else, including penicillin.  The way it is growing......friends of friends using the program in all our affairs.  Just think what a better place we could make this planet if it spread to every speck of land on this earth?

It would have been nice to bump into some of you guys......did any of you come?

next one is in San Antonio Texas.

We got back last night from the convention. Wow! Thats about all I can say about it. I have only been in the program for 16 months, and this was such an overwhelming experience. I'm so glad I was able to make it. The flag ceremony was awesome and singing Amazing Grace at the end of that meeting.... I don't think there was a dry eye in the whole stadium.

The meetings I attended were superb and everyone I met was so nice and friendly. I especially enjoyed the "Party in the Park" on Thursday night. As hubby said, isn't it cool to get 50,000 drunks together with live music and lots of space to walk around, and there isn't one argument, no pettiness, no fights. Just a bunch of people enjoying their time together, sober. It was probably a quiet weekend for the local law enforcement. Not many conventions can say that!

Looking forward to Pittsburg in 2008 and San Antonio in 2010!

Debbie
