Jest fer Eden Lovers!!

Everything is normal here. Slept with 3 Bassets last night. Rufus just climbed
> on Lusterpig, who sleeps next to my bed on a pile of blankets, and got on my
> bed.
>
> Of course my huge Winnie cat was up there too. She kept me quiet. Everytime I
> would say,"geez, YOU GUYS MOVE OVER!!" She would jump up, and bite my lip.
>
>
> Woke up to normal too. Patticake cat was up in the neat gazebo bird feeder, my
> friends husband made me....I finally saw Goldfinches in it. Somehow I believe
> a cat in the food area would deter them from eating there again.
>
> 3 wild ducks in the pond now. Two male mallards and one female. Hmmm fortunate
> ladyduck. I wonder, are they eating the grasses in there or pollywogs or both?
> All I know is the quacking is neat.
>
> I think they are a bad influence on white FeeFee turkey. She has begun to look
> unlike a white egret, going along in the pond eating yummers. Yesterday I saw
> Devilturky in there too. I politely reminded them, "You guys are turkeys, not
> ducks!" But we all know how the animals get mixed up at Eden.
>
> Was in the house calmly watching movies, stuffed tight on my dbl. recliner.
> Uno,the usual, basset dogs, Winnie and kittens rallying for space. NO problem
> for Sauvey Great Pyr, he just basically gets into my lap and sticks his hot
> ole slobber boxes in my face and kisses me.
>
> The Bassets have been having so much fun on the dryer days bowoooooing all
> over the mountain. I swear there is nothing there 99% of the time!! Kirby,
> Wilma, and Ru all will just bark and run then get Tavish going, then
> Dollydoodle, the English Bulldog takes off too. NONE of them even know who,
> what, where or why!! Sauveur the Pyr is usually too busy casing the fence,
> watching birds fly over and jumping into every watersource he can find.
>
> The Bassets drive me nuts when I am trying to put up a fence, or nap, or do
> pooty duty, or nap....I now keep hearing myself say,"YOU just had to love
> Bassets, didn't ya?!"
>
> I hear this awful scrunching, then hear the slider open in the kitchen. Next
> thing was a pink, large pink, snouter looking around the couch....hmmmm
> Estersue has decided her 1200 pounds is just fine in the house. Yorkshire pig
> lives in house in Lebanon....the woman homeowner says,"eh the dahling is a
> might more clean and dependable than ma late husband uno!" "Also she doesn't
> HOG the covers!"
>
> WEll a slight exageration. But anyway she was so dainty and it was neat. I
> gave her an apple and made her food and took her out. Well that was ok, but as
> she turned around her butt hit my little drop leaf table and antique chairs
> and sort of moved them into a different area/position ya might say.
>
> I got de baldee roosters, thanks to Dollydoodle English Bulldog. I was going
> to give them away. Then got an email from some kid who said,"May I have them?
> My dad said if I got them he would show me how to chop their heads off." OMG.
> So needless to say I still have 5 roosters and one tired hen. I am continually
> saving them from being plucked completely bald...
>
>
> The llamas have gotten even closer to me. Well closer in a physical sense. I
> now feed and have these giraffe like necks peaking over my shoulders, and even
> being so bold as to reach OVER me to eat out of the grain bag! Campbell Llama
> stands right next to me now and will eat right there. I am so glad he is not
> lion food.
>
> I have been pouring food on my hood for them. So you can imagine what my
> pickup looks like. The back is full of food bowls. The tailgate has wet feed
> stuck to it. The sides have swirls of mud where I caught Estersue and red 1200
> pound PixiePearl pig rubbing on it.
>
> PIxie is a dahling, just like SueSue. I push her around the same way and tell
> her to back off. You would think I am 8 feed tall and 500 pounds of muscle the
> way they mind me. Well for a sec or two then they are back to pushing me to
> hurry up and fix their feed. It is one thing for the pot bellied pigs to nudge
> you, but when a 1200 pound pig does it, it can be lethal!
>
> Oh and one quick bit of advice...DO NOT WEAR SANDALS OF ANY KIND WHEN YOU ARE
> FEEDING one horse, 3 llamas, 14 pot bellied pigs, 2 huge farm pigs, two
> turkeys and various baldee chickens.
>
> AND let us not forget the two goats, who are jumping up on my legs to be
> lifted into the back of the truck, so they can eat out of every bowl I fill.
>
> I decided to sit on the tailgate and watch everyone eat, look at the
> mountainview, see the grey and black clouds rolling in. Tucker tiny black
> pygmy goat decides he wants to get amorous and climbs on my back and is trying
> to get on my shoulders!! I learned one important thing, trim his hoovies
> regularly.
>
> White pygora Valeegoat is busy going along and lightly butting everyone. She is
> in heaven when she has so many short targets...
>
> I see the Sparky ginger kittens are getting a bit too big for the little
> basket on the antique school desk. They really are a joy, venturing outside in
> the front garden. Everything and everyone is a toy. I find it interesting that
> size has nothing to do with how animals react to each other. It is who is the
> bossiest, that would be Chief.
>
> Remember I got the outside swing/glider that lays down? I put tarp on the
> bed, well now the chickens and cats think it is for them. If it ever stops
> raining I will nap there. I have twice and fallen asleep!! Then I wake up to
> ten or fifteen stereo purrs on me, and around me.
>
> My Appy/Paint is white with tiny brown spots where his paint used to be. He
> has gorgeous crystal blue eyes, he is a major love of mine. He is the boss of
> everyone except Winnie, the long haired ginger and white cat. She will sit or
> stand in front of him and he will stop.
>
> Chief is rather a butterball these days! Seriously, I gotta start walking him
> or lunging him. But omg what a difference from the near death, boney, horse
> who came here a year or so ago.
>
> The guinea pigs love being outside in their 4x4 enclosure. I put cat carriers
> in there with no doors for houses. The only problem is darn llamaYama is
> always eating their grain.
>
> So things are normal here. I am still tripping on everything, getting
> scratched by blackberries, getting mud rubbed on me everytime I try to go
> somewhere dressed nice.
>
> The new tenant is yet another sick person and she has got to go. Her pit bull
> bit my butt, they have made a hole in the wall and chewed a door up, and
> broken a window. Plus she leaves them inside for days and it is a horrible
> mess. rrrrr Mac, my son told me not to worry about it, he will fix everything.
> We will have to sealer paint the floor and redo it.
>
> I heard a crashing sound over and over, very rythmic... could not imagine,
> someone breaking in next door? NO, Estersue is lifting the tail gate of the
> pickup up and down with her snouter, to knock the last bits of grain off.
>
> Then last night Luster, who is my big, loving, house piggy and I napped for a
> long time. He has a zillion ingrown hairs that can cause abcesses so I am
> continually cleaning his poor skin. He just lays there on his pillow and
> blankets.
>
> After months of this my boys skin is so soft, and since he is fed the right
> food, his hair is shiney and pretty. NO more dry Ramen and grapes. ick The
> cool gal who brought him keeps him supplied with vitamins and flax seed
> oil.She even sponsors him! she rescued him from a very bad situation.
>
> We have since become crazy pig loving friends!!
>
> WEll this is some of Eden for you.Never a dull moment. oh and the mama
> Starling still has 5 babies that are fed constantly. Gads I will be glad when
> they fly away. I cannot imagine her getting hurt or worse and i have to take
> over....

debilyn,

Have you considered changing the sanctuary name to Debilyn's Ark?  lol

I really enjoyed reading your post.  You must be truly blessed by HP to care for all his beloved animals  :)

Debilyn,   I love you.  Thanks for your share.  To be honest, I can't think of anything worse than looking after your animals!!!!!!   I may, one day, manage maybe one cat.  I like cats.  But you are a star.

And your wonderful share reminded me of what is important in this life.  I know you have your problems Deb.   But your share reminded me to be grateful for the simple things in life.  In my case it is my garden.  It's a suburban garden in west London, UK., but very special to me.  I love to watch the birds in my trees and listen to the rustlings in the undergrowth as evening descends.  Yes I am very very fortunate that I have a beautiful garden.  I have created a place where I can find true serenity.

special love to you,    Sheila

Debilyn,

You are an angel to animals everywhere! I'm an animal lover myself and so enjoyed reading your post.(although it has left me feeling rather exausted) How do you manage caring for all those animals and not wearing yourself out. My hats off to you. Maybe one day I too will have more animals. At the moment all we have is 1 rabbit and we have recently been adopted by a stray cat. She just showed up on my doorstep the other night. Poor thing is nothing but skin and bones. So of course I had to bring her in a feed her a can of tuna. Went and bought her some cat food yesterday though and a litter pan. She doesn't seem to think to much of our bunny though, she just growls and hisses at him. Afraid to let bunny out of his cage right now, would hate to see the fur fly on that one. Hope they will soon learn to be tolerate of each other. We did have a couple starlings too recently. They had fallen out of their nest and almost got munched by a dog we had when my hubby went and saved them. We hand raised them. One died here a few months ago The other one which we had named houdini, learned how to get out of his cage.(they are very smart birds) He got out one day and flew right out the front door. Well I must get going. Hope you have a wonderful day! Blessings to you and all your friends!

Hi Debilyn,

First I must say CONGRATULATIONS on your good news, so very, very happy that you had a good outcome and healthy boobs!!

Next I have to tell you...if I said that I loved reading your posts, especially regarding your critters, I would be a liar. I ADORE THEM!!!! I love animals as much as you do and think that you are a wonderful, giving woman. What I wouldn't give to be able to do what you do. I have trained as a rehabber but we've moved and are now living in the city, so I am unable to fulfill my dream of being able to start a sanctuary of my own.....so far - I've not given up hope yet!!

I can read the love you have for all of your critters whenever you write about them and you never fail to bring a HUGE smile to my face. I couldn't stop the smiles if I tried!!

My only regret is that I live so far away from you or you would have a VERY willing assistant to help you with your assorted chores and charges. You are truly an inspiration to so many here and you keep my dreams of my own sanctuary alive in my heart. You truly are an angel to all of your animals and I admire you, what you have lived through and what you do so very, very much....

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for sharing your love, your joys and your sorrows with so many....and for doing for the critters what I can only do in my heart, for the time being.

With admiration, caring and my respect,
~arwyn
