Beer, Daughter, Cabin :(

Hello friends,

These alcoholics sure struggle :(   I have so much compassion for my daughter. She has been so quiet. Last night she asked if she could take my car for a drive later in the evening. I said yes but how long will you be gone? She said about a half an hour. Well, I had been a little concerned about some beer in my parents refrigerator but let it go. When she came back from the drive she went right to bed. I had wondered if she drank but let it go. This morning I was looking for the toothpaste and she was half asleep and mentioned the blue bag. I looked in her blue backpack and found a can of beer! I asked her to please explain to me about the beer since I know she got it from my parent's refrigerator. She said she took it the night before but didn't open it. I was very calm and nice about it. I went and asked my dad if he could find out when the AA meetings were at and he tried to call to find out. I wrote down a number to call and gave it told her and said to call this number if she chose to. She did wake up and eventually  she perked up and did agree to go golfing. WE just got back from golfing (not me) and she had a great time. MY mom golfed with her and my dad helped her with golfing tips. He teaches golf here at this golf course. WE had two golf carts and my daughter and her grandpa rode in one together. My daughter just went down to the beach. I will not talk about this with her any further. I did take the beer out of the refrigerator and put it somewhere else. I also did talk to my dad about it. He has been real supportive to me. I do feel so bad for my daughter but it is her battle. My battle is to keep it contact with my alanon friends for support. I am glad I have this computer to use. I will not check this board until I get back home because everyone can see this except right now. We still could use prayers. I am glad my daughter did perk up and go golfing. She could have responded all kinds of ways but did decide to pick her self up and move on just like I did too :)  What a struggle this disease causes for those that suffer. I sure feel for all the alcoholics/drug addicts but understand it is up to them to save themselves. Your friend in recovery, cdb :)

Casino update :)

Hello friends,

After golfing, my daughter went to the beach and when she came back she was more like her happy serene self :)  We went out to eat and she was talkative and fun to be around. We then went to a casino where she and my parents enjoyed each others company :) When we got back to the cottage we all played cards and she was so pleasent to be around and back to her fun personality again. Wow, this whole beer in the backpack situation could have turned out way different if I hadn't responded like I did and if she hadn't respondrd like she did. I really see how her AA/NA programs and my Alanon program help our serenity and our relationship. I don't know where she or I would be without our programs and our support groups. I am so proud of her and so proud of me too :)  If we don't give ourselves a pat on the back, who will? I have decided not to share this situation with my husband. He does not have alanon and this is best dealt between us anyway.

I did have something funny happen to me though at the casino LOLOL. Leave it to me to get into sticky stupid situations. I took a picture of my daughter at the slot machine. Well, security was on me like flies on your know what LOL. They ended up taking my disposable camera and I didn't get into anymore trouble. The casion wasn't busy and it actually was quite funny since most of the workers there know my dad from the golf course. They are going to develop the film for free and mail me the pictures I had taken before the one in the casino of my daughter at the slot machine at their cost. I was so embarassed LOL. My parents, daughter and I had a big laugh over it though. One lady in the background at the card table turned around and shook her finger at me too ROFL. I had no idea what I had done wrong. The funniest part a couple days before we were there and I had my parents and daughter pose in front of the slot machines and no one did a thing. So I have that picture on another camera. I told my family that in the future my grandkids and great grandkids can see that picture and know that ME/grandma in future took that picture illegally and got away with it LOLOL. Silly me and my silly sense of humor. At least I didn't get put in jail in a foreign country here or get a big fine. When we left I looked at the rules and the first and most important rule was NO Cameras and NO Pictures LOL.

Well, I thought some of you would get a kick out of that story. If you knew me in person you would know I seem to get myself into those situations alot in my life.

Well, everyone is in bed so I was able to put this post here. Hope you all are doing well. cdb :)

(((Cdb)))

Sory I have been gone and bussy and this is my first chance to take a look at the board!! Hugs!!

LOL the Casino thing too funny.  I can't believe that they were so hard on you but it was nice of them to develope the film for you.  When I worked at the Casino(before kids) protocal was that pictures were fine if permission was granted.  I don't think that that has changed. So next time if you want to take pics just ask first. They should have told you that.  It is a privacy thing for thoes gamblers.

Glad that you are doing so well!!! I am happy for you and your daughter for handeling that situation so well.

Love your friend JJ
