gratitude

Today i am greatful for my loving children
Today I am greatful for alanon
Today I am greatful that my husband came home so I could go to my f2f meeting
Today I am greatful that my husband realized that alanon is good for me
Today I am greatful that I have many supportive friends that help me when I am feeling blue
Today I am greatful for my home
Today I am greatful that I am not bitter
Today I am greatful that I am not angry
Today I am greatful that I am not sad or crying
Today I am greatful to be happy
Today I am greatful to my hp

I decuided to be greatful other than to harbour many feeling that I felt lastnight. I decuided to learn from experience rather than to slip and lash out. I learned that being angry is ok but to dwell on it and fixate my anger and pain is a waste of my time. I have taken from someone who hurt me and made me breakdown and cry that all experiences can help me grow further. I have also learned that even places where I feel comfort and safety can hurt me but most importantly what I have learned is I have grown even further in my recovery all because I was hurt.

I am a mother that loves and protects her children. I am married with my husband living here but I am a single mother who raises her children alone. I am strong and unwilling to be dragged down by others I have decuided to grow instead of spinning out of control and going backwards.

I would like to express my gratitude to my friends who helpped me in a time of great sadness and hurt. My hp was looking after me when you two were on chat lastnight and thank hp for answering my prayers or cdb for her great esp.

Today was a powerful day of growth, much reflection and I have learned much more than expected.

I know that every experience can offer me a gift. All I have to do is be willing to look at my situation in the light of gratitude.
JJ

Hello jj,

Wow! This is a very powerful message filled with a huge leap of growth! It is wonderful to see you take a hurtful situation and turn it into strength! I am so amazed at how fast you did this too. Reading your gratitude list gave me alot of inspiration. You are a great example for me of how to deal with my tough times too. Keep up the growth and positive outlook. Your friend in recovery, cdb  :)

Thanks for sharing your gratitude. It is great to see you looking to the positive instead of the negative.

I think we all tend to forget that each new day is a gift and a chance for new starts. It is too easy to focus on the bad and forget the good things.

One day at a time, we can strive to be happy.

JJ,

Thank you for sharing your experience, strength and hope. It is clear to me that you are working very hard at your program. That is inspiring to me.

It always helps me to be reminded of the power of gratitude and choice of attitude in my daily life. I often struggle with the fine line between ignoring my feelings and choosing to set them aside and do the next right thing.

In one of our daily readers, it says: Pain is inevitable but suffering is optional.

That quote always make me re-evaluate where I'm at and what I truly want for myself today.

Love and hugs,
Jessi
