Hello

My name is bennett and I'm not in it!! At least that is what I keep telling myself.

I haven't been to a meeting in years, but I sure need one right now. My daughter and her two kids have moved in with my mother. They are all 200 miles away, but I get emails nearly every day from my mom. She tells me all about whatever "trouble" my daughter is getting into. I don't reply to those emails, so then she calls. She tells me to "talk" to her, which translates into...Fix her!!!!

Yeah, right. I am completely unable to fix this kid and trying makes me nuts so I think I'll just skip that whole scenario. I listen, I tell my mom I don't know what to tell her and then hang up, but the guilt creeps in. Darn shouldn't I be DOING something????!?!!?!?!

I know the answer to that one, but sometimes it is hard.

Thanks for listening

Bennett...who is not in it today.

Hi Bennet,

It sounds like a real smart move to not be "in it".

Maybe you could just tell your Mother about Alanon's 3 C's. You didn't Cause it, you can't Control it and you can't Cure it. Neither can she for that matter.

I hope you come back to Alanon and pick up your tool box :)

Christy

Yeah u should be doing something , get back to meetings for yourself . period You need support . Encourage your mom to try meetings too , gently remind her that she has choices , the daughter does not have to live with her. Detach with love and get back on track .   Louise

((((((((((((Bennett)))))))))),

Staying out of it sounds like the right decision for me. Howver, the more I get away from this program, the harder it is to use my tools. So as others have suggested, time to get back to working your program. It becomes much easier to handle when you have the tools to get the job done the right way. Kind of like trying to paint a room with a toothbrush. Not gonna happen! Keep coming back to us.

Love and blessings to you and your family.

Welcome Bennett. My take is if you can't get out of it get in it.

In support,
Nancy
