Detachment

I recently found a website that has some fantastic tools for recovery on it.  One of which is a great outline on detachment.

I wish I'd of had this when I first started in the program.  Check it out if you wish.

The subjects covered are listed on the lefthand side.

Barb,

This was a great site and has so much information.  I like how it has so many cross references too.  Plus there were things from loss to worry about a school test and everything in between.

I did the detachment topic, it led me to loss of dreams or fantasy of how life should be - can be a block so you can't move forward.  Then that topic  led me to the 'need to control' topic.  (:
After I completed the need to control topic,
the site recommended that I do the next 14 chapters or all of this online book which includes:

Does this mean I have won something? smile.gif
I can see how this would be applicable to me now, I know I am a control freak but I have some older sisters you should meet which make me look good! lol  Really brings home that it doesn't matter how much control of others you try to manage but that you do it at all................... which refers me right back to the Serenity prayer.

I agree with you Mobirdie that this has some fantastic recovery tools.

Thanks for sharing this!!  hugs, ddub

You are very welcome. I printed the detachment part out and passed them out at a meeting I was chairing last week. Although it is not Al-Anon approved material it is an Al-Anon approved subject for recovery...fine line I know.

The results, I believe, are the important part in this instance. Everyone at the meeting was so thankful to have this in hand. We are thinking of doing a lengthy study on this. My thoughts are whatever helps someone get through today is well worth it. It took me a long time to really understand what detachment really was and this outline puts in all into perspective.
