Detachment With Love

I posted this poem I wrote to my A over a year ago. There are so many new members and I see alot of posts about detaching I wanted to post it again, to share with you all.
                                                          Prayers and Hugs, Kim

Each and every day,

it gets easier,

to go away........

To never look back,

just to turn and walk away.......

The days turn into nights,

and the nights turn into days...............

As I sit here,

and pray.............

I pray for your strength,

to live each and everyday,

to live your life,

in a powerful way............

I pray that,

when you come upon a fork in the road,

you will choose the right turn,

and stay away from what you know so well.............

As I sit and wonder,

about our future everyday,

I see no different,

than I see us today..........

As I slowly learn to live with this,

and to continue on,

and how to give myself happiness,

so I can finally move on...........

Oh yes,

there will be sad times,

and many happy, too.

I just can not sit here anymore, watching,

while you destroy you...................

Our times together,

have been growing shorter and shorter.

and the anger that I sometimes feel,

has decreased to occasionally..................

But I do know for sure,

that I can not deal with your addiction daily..........

I love you,

with all my heart...............

I have been here,

through thick and thin................

But the saddest thing is,

I am the only one,

who is participating............

I wish you the very best,

of all lives happiness,

but you need to change,

and I can not do that.............

You need to do this on your own,

for in God's hands you'll be,

for they are stronger,

give it a try,

you will see.

Hmmm, that poem does ring a bell......
It is beautiful, straight from your heart.
One wonders how an A can read it and NOT want to seek help.
Thanks for the reminder today.
I needed that.
Love in Recovery,

This says it beautifully! I'll be keeping this one to share with others.

I'm curious, how are you doing a year after writing it? Does detachment feel different today?
