Healing from Surgery

The surgery for my "trigger Thumb" went OK, only a 1" incision, and 2 stitches, but the scar tissue is pretty big and the stitches painful.
I have exercises I have to do to keep my thumb limber, will be off work total of 14 days, today is 1 week since the surgery.
AH has been pretty nice.  I am still in the detachment mode.  It helps.
We even had a pretty nice weekend.  Went to Michigan (6 hour trip) to go camping with our 3 year old granddaughter, AH's son, and his girlfriend the baby's parents.)  We got along well.
Went swimming in Lake Michigan with grandbaby and had a ball.
She is so funny, loves to tease.  I told her I wished I had some "Dora" pajamas, and she said "Well, you don't!"  I had to laugh, she sounded so much like my AH.  She helped me change the bandage on my hand, and gave me get well kisses.
Today, AH and I are home, he has the week off with me, because our anniversary is Sunday.  He just wanted to take the week off too (which is surprising since he HATES ME so much!)  He has also been very affectionate, and performing his husbandly duties (2 times this week!)
Today has been calm, he didn't even drink yesterday, even after we got home from our trip.  We just watched a Neil Young special on TV together and ate dinner.  It was nice.  It is times like this weekend, and last night, that I stay.  I was wanting to do a lot of work around the house this week (as much as I can with partial use of my right hand) but now my back is out!  Low back pain, so bad I can't bend over.  Started hurting while we were camping, too much lifting getting stuff packed up for the trip, I think.
So, here I sit, on a heating pad, and it is 90-some degrees outside!  AARRGGHH!
So, not much news here.  I am just taking it easy, trying to heal up my hand and my back.
We were getting ready to leave on our trip, and he said he wanted to wear his wedding ring (the one he DIDN'T cut in two) but didn't know where it was.  Said he had put it up somewhere, but didn't remember where.
I know where it is.  It is over the light fixture in the bathroom.  That is where he hides things now and then.  Should I tell him?  I don't want him to know I know where his hiding place is.  On the other hand, I would like him to wear his ring on our anniversary Sunday.
Will try to get here more in the next few days.
Thanks to everyone for your support.
I have good days and bad days, but much more good days since HP directed me to Alanon, and to MIP.
Love you all.
Love in Recovery,
Becky1

(((Becky1)))

I'm glad your surgery went well.  You'll be using that thumb before you know it!

I swam in lake Michigan when I was a teenager.  My family went to Traverse City on a couple of occasions, and we slid down the sand dunes.  It was a blast.  I had one of my first kisses in Traverse City, from a boy named Ritchie.  He was so hot, he was older than me, and going with another girl that lived there, but kissed me on the day we were leaving to come back home.  I felt guilty (not really, lol) that he broke up with her and kissed me.

I know of some hiding places for my AHsober.  I haven't told him, though.  It wouldn't do any good, he would find other places.  Just drives you crazy to keep looking...

Anyway, sounds like you're doing ok.  Keep on posting here.

Kathi

(((((becky))))),

Here's to a speedy recovery. I sympathize. I am recovering from surgery too. My AHsober was no help. Then he got an ailment and that became his priority. Way to have a great time with the family. Yes I have good days and bad but thank god for Alanon and a place to go.

In support,
Nancy

(((((((Becky)))))))),

Take good care of yourself this week. Glad you had a great time with the granddaughter.  Detaching with love is one of the best Alanon tools I have learned.  It's not easy, and sometimes I forget how to do it, but I wouldn't be with out it!  Happy Anniversary early.  Love and blessings to you and your family.

Live strong,
Karilynn & Pipers Kitty (who wants to know how are your kitties doing?) smile

Sophie, Sidney, and Wiley are doing great. We have a friend who checks in on them while we go out of town now and then. Much easier on the cats than leaving them at the vet's. One time I did that, and poor Sophie looked like she had about grieved herself sick in 4 days. All they do is sleep and eat, anyway, so staying home is best for them.
Baby Granddaughter wants to come to our house to play with the kitties. Hope they can bring her down, sometime!
