I'M DONE!!!!!!

Well I was at the old house until 10 last night and got home covered in sweat and exhausted and suffering from bleach fume inhalation but I'M DONE!!  It's clean and ready to move in when the carpets are cleaned.  What a relief.  I have spent every day since Sunday after work moving stuff and cleaning up for the past 3 days and not getting home until 9 pm.  I NEVER want to move again!!

Today I'm going after work to sign up for daycare assistance so I can just relax and unpack tomorrow.  I was thinking about my stuff for the past few days - how can you not after having to move it all.  And I decided I'm tired of having junk, I am going to start buying real furniture and making a nice home.  When I was in my late teens and early twenties I was with this horrible A and we were homeless a few times and since then I have had an issue with keeping junk or having to sell it rather than just get rid of it.  That and buying a car I could push to start if I had to LOL.  For the last couple of years after moving twice across country I have tried to avoid collecting stuff and because I have been alone and had no help I have avoided buying real furniture and stuck with cheap lightweight easy to move stuff like plastic drawers and air mattresses.  I am so tired of having junk.  There's a great habitat for humanity thrift shop right up the street from my new house and they always have great stuff fairly cheap so I'm going to go there every day off to see if I can find quality stuff.  I buy all my kids' clothes and other stuff at the thrift store and they have way way way too much so I have decided to take the money I would be tempted to spend on them and use it to make a nice home with real furniture.  Also, I'm going to start looking into a 2nd job for a couple of nights a week.  I had to put almost $500 on the credit card for deposits and I already had 1k on there and there's 500 more coming for our trip to Orlando sometime this month.  I don't even make enough to pay the bills and buy food every month so something has to give.  This all comes back down to that thread about being an adult and growing up.  I love my schedule working 4 days per week and I love my 3 day weekends and free time but we NEED the money right now and I know I'm being selfish by not just biting the bullet and getting that second job.  I could work two nights a week and make enough money to really help.

Yeah, hooray for you!  I can tell you're excited by the "sound" of your post. biggrin

I can relate about wanting to have real furniture instead of the cheap stuff.  I also know that when you move, it's amazing how much stuff you accumulate over the years.

I wish you peace and serenity in your "new" home!  clap.gif

I am so glad you got everything moved. I too finally got everything moved out of the storage unit a few weeks back. But you know what? Now it is all piled up in my loft in boxes and in the shed out back. I have so much JUNK. And I know what you mean about finally having nice furniture. I have fairly decent stuff but would love a new kitchen table and chairs. I am currently using a used set that had been handed down a couple of times before I got it 14 years ago. It is in TERRIBLE shape but serves the purpose. One day I will go get a nice set.

Things are looking up for you girl. And I am so proud of you and all of your accomplishments. You are an inspiration to me. :) Keep up the good work. You are AWESOME.

Sincerely,
QOD

One day at a time. I know I have put out there I am ready for a 2nd job. Well the opportunity came up this weekend for one but I have to finish the moving the stuff to storage stuff. I literally cannot find anything. I buy something and it gets lost in the stuff I have piled everywhere.

I do know the craving to have a home. I know it also took me a long long time to get here. I have to work on a way out of this.

one day at a time.

I'm waiting for a check today and hate that. I never know exactly if I will be paid on the 30th or 31st.

you are doing so much better build on it gently and slowly and systematically.

I am also going through my stuff but resisting the urge to get rid of too much too soon. I go through stuff and work it through systematically.

I also have old funky stuff. some of my chest of drawers are not going to make another move. I have to thnk long term about how I am going to have a better life. The A is just one small part of it.

maresie.

I find it so inspirational to read posts about people acknowledging their problems and working on solutions. It makes everything in my life seem somehow manageable. Thanks and congratulations!

well done you, I moved during my finals for the degree, and its exhaustion like I have never experienced, you have survived, give yourself a medal, six years later and I never want to do it again either though

You sound solid and have a good plan- good for you.

$$ is such a source of pain. We never want our children to go without. Some things that have helped me and may be available to you are:

federal lunch program-offer free or reduced breakfast and lunch.

local food pantry- help supplement your food with the basics. They will often give you a couple of bags a month.

local synagoge or church- call the office and ask what services are offered. A friend of mine got bunk beds (solid wood) from an older couple downsizing. They even bought new mattress's for them b/c they said they were so happy to see the kids excited about the bunk beds. She got their name from her church.

Babysit- you may find a local family in need of services on your weekday off-the plus-it may be cash and would not knock you out of other services. I barter my time for childcare for my son!

Al-Anon- If you go f2f mention you are furnishing your place-you be surprised at the "old timers"-they often have connections you may not know about.
