VIDEO....DO WE KNOW OTHERS ARE WORSE OFF THAN OURSELVES

((((((((((((gUYS)))))))))))

I came across this video, I had tears in my eyes watching this....

This is what goes on everyday in life, sometimes un-noticed....It's not graphic, just words and music, about .child abuse victims..

Ally, thanks for sharing this.  It is a very hard truth in this world.  It reminds me of an anonymous prayer that is the slogan for a non-profit youth agency that I worked for.

"Dear Lord, Be good to me, the sea is so big and my boat is so small."

Sending healing prayers for all the children of the world affected by child abuse.

Yours in recovery,
Leetle

Don't we have enough of our own pain in our own lives without coming on here and hearing about such horrible suffering of others unrelated to Alanon topics?

This only ties at the heart strings of us codependents, we want to save the world!  Only we can't...so seeing this kind of thing only brings about more suffering for US and more frustration.

I don't agree that seeing that someone may be suffering more comforts us in anyway!

Here in Alanon is it not a "contest" about who is suffering more.  Each one comes in pain and we reach out the loving hand of Alanon to try and ease that pain.

I don't know how that thought got started that it comforts someone in pain to hear of someone's worse pain.  Most of us in Alanon suffer from codependency and it increases our own suffering as we take on the pain of others we hear about.

Let's remember...Alanon spoken here...

Talking about other issues other than dealing with alcoholism only adds to our sorrow...it does not lift it.

Perhaps this could have been shared in a different forum, one specifically dealing with child abuse issues, NOT Alanon.

My ESH is that I do not try to take on the pain of the whole world.  It is enough for me to carry my own load of pain and suffering, and to try to comfort and help my family, friends, and those in my F2F meeting as well as here.  Isn't that enough for any of us?

I understand what you are saying.

I myself being a survivor from sexual abuse as a child, can understand the effects this can have on any child.

Alcoholisim also played a big part in it too, not that I'm saying every alcoholic is a sexual abuser.

Best wishes,
