I found the forms and directions

I found a great website I think someone here may have mentioned it before but I thought it was one I already saw.  They had forms and step by step instructions on how to file in NC.  And it was a lawyer's website of all things.  All I need to be concerned with now is custody and I have a restraining order that's good until i think feb or mar of next year?  So I have a little time on that one, maybe long enough to get my tax return and pay a lawyer to do it.

Waaaaahooooo!!!!

Amazing what kinds of things you can find out there on the net. :) And kind of scary too.

How about that whole ordering a pizza on-line? That is pretty cool huh? I might have to try that if I ever get enough money to actually order take out. :) LOL.

Sincerely,
QOD

The only advice I would give is to try to get more than one legal opinion. The local bar association may have a referral panel who do low fee consults. The other is to network network network with other people who have done custody stuff. I would not in a legal case take anything as a given.

Is there a hurry if he is in prison. i would not suggest you shelf the stuff either but take your time. One of my huge huge error in dealing with anything legal is to give in to the anxiety.

Actually, I'm moving to a different county in a couple weeks and want to get it filed here before I go. Also, he will be out the first of October and I want to make sure I can serve him. So that is the reason for my rush to get this done.

Well that tives you 2 months in theory. I tend to do lots of stuff legally that I shouldn't like not consult enough people before going ahead. 2 months in theory give you time to consult more than one person.

Try Bar Assocation, legal aid. I would also suggest trying the battered womens shelter they may know a good attorney who is willing to do pro bono. In theory lots of attorneys have to do x amount of hours doing pro bono to keep up their bar membership its worth trying. My real downfall is not to be persistent in such matters.
