Just thought I'd share a funny family moment we had tonight. My AH sober called this evening to see what we had planned. I told him we were going to go swimming at a friend's house and he decided to meet us there and join us. We had a great time and he came back to the house for some blackberry crisp. The older kids and I arrived home first. By the time my H got in the house with our youngest, the kids had music blaring and were dancing and playing kitchen instruments to Bob Dylan. They were celebrating. Important info on this Bob Dylan music is that it is a cd my H gave to our 14yr old son to sway him from the awful music he had been listening to, and because I deleted almost all the music off his computer and ipod. Anyhow, it was all very light-hearted and fun, and then we focused on the song they were dancing to, "Everybody Must Get Stoned"... LOL! And I thought my child's music was bad... The kids didn't get it, and my H didn't really think it was all that funny and commented that it was the kind of music our parents wanted to keep us away from, but personally, given all the depression and sadness our family has experienced, I thought the irony of it all was hilarious. I took it as proof that God has a sense of humor and a reminder that as hard as I try, I cannot control everything. Perhaps it is time I start listening...

What Awesome Optimism! Finding the good in every situation is an awesome trait to have. Most important: Your kids were having a good time doing something together! It always makes me overflow w/happiness when I see my kids enjoying each other's company.
