Serenity Prayer twist

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
The courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference

And - God - Grant me the courage and the strength to have full faith in your power and your plan. Help me to hear see and feel your message so that I may better serve your will.

I added that last part because I always felt like my higher power was absent or not right where I needed him when I needed him.

Since being in the program I have come to learn that my higher power speaks in the most subtle of ways - as long as I am paying attention - here is an example of what I mean...

I always get very anxious if I am in a store (I shop too much and that is not good when you don't have money, only credit cards)... anyway - while at Target (a local store here)... with my husband - I was starting to panic (My chest was tightening, I was feeling really shaking and having difficulty breathing)... Then I saw a sign (literally, it was a sign to hang up in your home kind of sign - that they were selling) - anyway - what it said, surely was a "sign" from my higher power....

"Faith makes things possible, not easy"

Wow, I used to think that my Higher Power, being all mighty - would "send down" loud - thunderous messages and signs - I expected it to be that way. But I am learning - that if I can be silent and stop every so often, I will see that he speaks to me in the every day simple things - like that quote on the sign in Target - placed right where I would see it in the midst of a panic attack.

I believe Albert Einstein once said - "There are two ways to live life. One, as though nothing is a miracle and the other as though everything is a miracle."

Thanks for letting me share!

Hi ((((Dee)))),

When I first came into the program, I had a saying posted on my fridge that said:

"God there is nothing that is going to happen in my life today, that you and I together can't handle."

Today I also have another prayer saying:  "God keep me in your will today, so  I don't get in your way."  Actually, I believe these are words in a song, not sure of the name of it tho.  Before the program I was always trying to manipulate and manage outcomes for others in my life.  Today I mind my own business, try to stay out of God's way and turn others over to their Higher Power.

I like what you added to the Serenity Prayer.  Thanks so much for sharing "Faith makes things possible, not easy."  I shall also remember this one.
