It's Raining, It's Pouring . . .

It's Raining, It's Pouring
The old man is snoring
Went to bed
bumped his head
couldn't get up in the morning.

Ok - anybody else remember that song from elementary school???

It's been raining here for about 7 days straight and the forecast is for - Yes, you got it more RAIN.

It has been a challenging day so far - our State payroll didn't go thru - so checks have not been direct deposited to our banks yet? - Streets are flooding and the Rivers are rising - My stress level is rising also ---- soooo let's do a little stress relief OK?
What do you like to do while it's raining?  (hey, hey this is a PG site folks - lol)

So other than the usual stuff like stress about my paycheck, my AH or my daughters - what fun relaxing things do you like to do when it's raining?
What stuff did your Mom do to occupy you when it was raining when you were younger?

Let's share some good memories~~

I like to read & eat Chocolate Chip cookies.
On days like today, when we would get home from school, my Mom would always have homemade hot chocolate for us and sometimes a special treat of homemade cookies - yummy!!

So what about ya'll???

Man, I grew up in the Seattle area, and I thought I was sick of rain. You guys down there are going to need to build an ark. I am on some homesteading forums, and people are losing animals b/c of the rain, the hay crops are being destroyed, people needing rescued from their sinking cars . . . Rita, stay safe!!

My mother would sit us down at the kitchen table and color with us (she had her own colorbook too). I particularly remember playing Uno, Life, Monopoly, and Sorry. And she would make popcorn too. She was always a coffee drinker, and that's where I learned to love coffee too, sitting around the table with her and my sister on days I couldn't play outside.

It's been in the nineties here, clear as a bell out. The humidity is high, and we all just droop. It's so awful I do what is necessary and then work on my rug hooking with the fan on my face. Almost as bad as too much rain, but not quite :)

(((Rita)))

7 days!! Girl don't float away down there. wink  I remember those rainy days living in N.O. we prayed for those days because the school's would close the buses couldn't run because the canal's would over flow.  There were so many things we did on rainy days.  My brother and I would make a tent in our room and put the T.V. in there, pillows, blankets, toys, we'd spend days in there.

My friends and I would gather up the junk food and make a picnic in the living room watching our favorite movies.

Now, we play super hero's!!  We color, arts and crafts, we read lots of books and watch fun movies.  We love to go to the mall on rainy days and play at the play place, I like to shop!!! Cause what else is there for me to do.

The boys hate the thunder and lighting, scares the pants off them, so usually they are close by cuddling with me on the coach or in their room.  We all climb in bed and snuggle up.  Wish I was there now, its still raining here too.  cry

Looks like it will be one of those nights tonight.  I'll be cramped with all my guys in the bed.  Gotta love it right?

Stay dry and enjoy those cookies!!biggrin

I like to curl up on the couch and read a book. Of course that doesn't do much for my kids who typically drive me crazy when couped up in the house all day.

When I was a kid, my sisters and I used to do make-overs. Hair, make-up, nails. Then we would dress all up in our finest hand-me-downs and up on a fashion show for our parents. Sometimes we would drag our brother into it and dress him up like a girl too. We would giggle all day. :)

Sincerely,
QOD

Kim - I LOVE to color - All 5 of my girls (all grown) still love to color too - we all color with the grandkids. We are in a safe area right now - Our trouble will be when the rivers & bayous crest in the next day or so, especially if it keeps on raining.

Twinmom - tents with blankets - we did that too - fun stuff!!

QOD - I didn't have any sisters so I didn't have the dress-up stuff, but my girls did it for hours on end - so much fun

This is great ya'll - really lifting my spirits - Still no paycheck - so this gets to be my entertainment.

((((((((Rita))))),

We'd spend hours coloring, reading and taking good long naps with animal of choice (stuffed or alive.)  We had a big old attic and we would play "library" or read the old Highlights magazine.  Mom would make us a big pot of our favorite soup.  We were also allowed to play or nap on our covered porch.  Once in a while if it was warm enough, Mom would let us take our showers out in the rain with our bathing suits on.  We could never get the soap completely out of our hair, so we had to go back in and shower anyways.  To this day I love to nap and read while it's raining.  Very relaxing.  Hope the rain ends soon for you.

Love and blessings to you and your family.

Live strong,

OK Rita.  Today is the 46th straight day it has rained here in San Antonio.  We are looking for an old man with a long beard and flowing robe who is reported to be good at building arks.

Both my sons live in Seattle.  Was it last year or the year before?  I cannot remember.  But....after 180 straight days of rain, one of my sons was ready to come apart at the seams.

Relax and remember how the plant life enjoys it.

LOL!!!! Diva

((((Rita))))

Reading...watching tv...building a model...coloring...eating mom's cookies...oh yeah!biggrin

When my brother and I would have enough, we would go outside anyway (in the summer) and play in the mud puddles!  We would built little boats out of wood put a pull string on them and "put out to sea"!  I remember doing that a lot!

We had a dirt road driveway into our place and it had a hugh mud hole that would develope in it some times...lol.  I remember my brother taking the "Nestea Plung" into it many times!  ha ha ha

When we would get done we would be covered in mud from head to toe.  Mom would just make us strip down to our underwear and hose off with the garden hose before she would let us back into the house.

GOOD TIMES!

Thanks for the memories!

David

Rita,

OMG, here in Tennessee we are drying up so badly!  We had two different days where it rained last week, but before that, the ground was cracked and the yards were brown.  I was out watering my 8'x8' veggie garden almost daily so I'd be able to enjoy tomatoes, corn, lettuce, bell peppers and watermelon later this summer!  So, PLEASE send some rain this way!  weirdface

Watching movies was the first thing that came to mind when you asked what we like to do on rainy days.  I'd love to cuddle up in the recliner with my comforter, with cat(s) on my lap.  aww

I hope you don't have to resort to building an ark!

Stay dry,

Kathi
