Got my stinky mutts back!

I went and picked up my dogs from my mom's today and brought them home. They had been with her for a year. When we lost the house she took them because I wasn't allowed to have dogs in the place I was renting. It is so nice to have them here. I have missed them so and now I have a reason to get out there and walk their butts! And mine too!. We inherited my dad's cat and he is the sweetest, most loving creature. He has been so healing for the kids and me. Our cat that we had is part siamiese, part ferrel and meaner than spit. So the kids never experienced kitty love till we got dad's cat. Our cat won't even let you touch her and attacts for no reason at all. My mutts are the sweetest animals also. Just want love, don't care about the rest of it. I feel a little more complete. Alot better than I have been feeling. I am feeling gratitude and peace. Man, I hope this lasts for a bit! At least the puppies are here with me and the kids. I didn't know how much I loved them till I had to live without them. I had no idea that animals could be so healing.

I can relate so much I have had time with my dogs lately and it has been so wonderful. They seem happier and more at ease than they have in months. I think they sense their life of uncertainity is over. I so look forward to living around them in a less chaotic time.

Maresie.

What a happy time! I sure can relate, too. I had 6 cats and a dog at one point many years ago. All the cats have since died, and my dog in the picture under my user name died a year ago. I never thought I'd miss him like I do, either.

My partner never like dogs because he had been attacked twice as a child, but he made the effort with Jake and came to love him. Now one of his greatest wishes is for us to 'get a pup,' but I've told him I don't want to until he finds his way with the drinking. First, we can't afford it right now, and second, if anything does happen to him, I don't want to have such a high-energy, demanding breed (cattle dog) alone again, and that's what he really wants -- another "Jakers" dog. He said one time that really hit him as far as his drinking, and it hadn't even occurred to me it would.

Enjoy yourself, Serendipity. You sure can use the break in all the upheaval and sadness you've had recently. There's nothing like animals, and I notice what a treasure they are for so many of us!
