Hi Andrea...
I have a bit of personal experience living with a cocaine addict. When my ex-husband was out of cocaine, he would mostly sleep ...A LOT. He was crankier than usual... very cranky, and basically laid around and did nothing. I never witnessed complete withdrawal with him. He always managed to get more drugs.

I think contacting a treatment center, like Louise suggested, is a great idea. Good luck to you!

When you withdrawl off of cocaine you do try to sleep alot, you get violently ill, sick to your stomach and throw up. You don't eat. You have nightmares and night sweats and then chills. Depending on how he did it (injection or snorting) the withdrawls can be more or less severe. The worst part is over within 48 hours. It's really hard because you feel it would be easier to just go get more then to have the severe withdrawl symptoms. All symptoms will be gone within two weeks. The cravings NEVER go away.
My brother has this problem. He injects and used to do heroin and just went through withdrawls. He called me on the phone begging for me to find him someone with painkillers. He was crying and very angry and threatening to go find heroin or cocaine. It was really really bad. On the good news side, you can NOT die or have seizures from with drawl from cocaine. You can have seizures from xanax and alcohol. I hope this helped a bit. Gold Bless

RE: witdrawl symtoms of cocaine? Thank you Friendofyours!

Thank you sooooo much for your input "friendofyours" I really appreciate the answer, you have no idea how much. I'm so scared for him, I feel anger and all kind of mixed feelings inside. I'm so glad I found this forum. I have no one to speak to about this, I feel like I'm going to explode.

RE: witdrawl symtoms of cocaine?

Just wanted to add that often cocaine withdrawl has NO symptoms - the shakiness, vomiting, etc, that are associated with heroin withdrawal don't show up very often. Cocaine withdrawal is not often as serious as heroin withdrawal, and not as deadly as detox from alchohol.

In our case, he was low and depressed, and his appetite really rose. Serious cravings for sweets. He slept a lot, but his sleep was restless - getting up and moving around for a bit, sleeping on the couch, then coming back to bed, napping during the day, etc.

As much as you can, it is best not to focus too much on him, but to pay attention to your own needs and feelings. Are you getting to meetings?  There you will alwasy find someone to talk about this with.

Hi Andrea-
My A is addicted to crack coccaine. I do know that when he finnally came home, when the money was gone, he would sleep alot with alot of shaking and quivering. He would get up alot and eat alot. He had awful diarrehea and was constantly doing all of these things for about a full day. He was usually very irritable about halfway through. They say that the withdrawels from Coccaine can not kill you, only make you one real miserable person. After he got through that day, he usually went right back out and did it all over again. He stole, if he didnt have money. He also took alot of pain medications if he wasnt using the crack. Cocciane is very hard to beat. I know crack, you can have cravings 5-6 months after your last use. Make sure that everything is hidden, that is worth any value and all medications are hiden too. I hope I was helpful. You are in my thoughts and prayers. ((((((((((( hugs)))))))))))) Love , Kim
