thank u all

Hey (((all)))

Bit of a weird day for me. Dad was my A and 8yrs ago today I guess he went on a drunken drug binge and overdosed (fatally). I have only joined alanon recently but have already felt the difference...whenever I come in here I feel all of your warmth and understanding. For that reason, this year, on this day, feels different too. I am sad about the past but I feel stronger already. Sharing with you all is the greatest gift.
So I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all and wish you strength in your recoveries.
Love and hugs to you all,
Lena x

I'm sorry about your dad, but glad that you have found this site!   w00t.gif  It helped me tremendously when I first found it about 2 1/2 years ago and still helps me now.

I am married to a recovering alcoholic, who has been sober for 3 years now, and am also an ACOA (adult child of an alcoholic).  My father was the alcoholic, and he has been sober for many years now, but has never been involved in AA.  I guess he just got lucky ~ his new wife (long time ago) gave him an ultimatum, and he has been sober since then.  He was actively drinking for all of my childhood, until I moved away from home.

I hope you keep coming back ~ it does get better!  biggrin

I for one are glad you found us....I am also an Acoa...This is the best possible thing for you to do... There is always someone who has been in your position.

My wisdom to you would be...Don't be in a hurry to get it all in a day..Because it doesn't work like that..I thought It did..lol

There are plenty of people who will teach you the programme, how to work the steps etc.....I felt It was a great help to me to just sit back and watch for a while...and see who or what you can identify with....biggrin

Glad your here with us......

Your Friend, Always

It is so distressing that people loose their family's, their jobs, possessions and sometimes even thier lives to addiction. Welcome to MIP, and your recovery.

I also am ACOA and find out new things about myself daily. This program can be a great help.

Take care of you, and I hope you will stay with us.
