Letting go and Letting God

Letting Go

  • To "let go" does not mean to stop caring. It means I can't do it for someone else.
  • To "let go" is not to cut myself off. It's the realization that I can't control another.
  • To "let go" is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands.
  •
To "let go" is not to try to change or blame another. it's to make the most of myself.
  • To "let go" is not to care for, buit to care about.
  • To "let go" is not to fix, but to be supportive.
  • To "let go" is not to judge, but to allow another to be a human being.
  • To "let go" is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes, but to allow others to affect their own destinies.
  • To "let go" is not to deny, but to accept.
  • To "let go" is not to nag, scold, or argue, but instead to search out my own shortcomings and correct them.
  • To "let go" is not to adjust everything to my desirers, but to take each day as it comes and cherish myself in it.
  • To "let go" is not to regret the past, but to grow and live for the future.
  • To "let go" is to fear less and to love more.

Letting God

If letting go does not mean to stop caring. It means to pray.If letting go" is to not cut myself off. It's the realization that God is in control and to detach with love. If letting go is to admit powerlessness, which means the outcome is not in my hands, then it must be in Gods most capable hands. If letting go is not to try to change or blame another. It must be to focus on God and allow him to make the most of me and not worry about that 'other' person. If letting go is not to care for, but to care about. Then let's "get about" God's business! If letting go is not to fix, but to be supportive. Let's be someone's cheerleader, not their lifeguard, that's God's job.If letting go is not to judge, then why do we?If letting go is not to be in the middle arranging all the outcomes, lets allow God to affect their destiny. If letting go is not to deny, lets try to accept the person unconditionally, as God does.If letting go is not to nag, scold, or argue, lets search out these shortcomings in ourselves and allow God to correct them.If letting go is not to adjust everything to my desire, then lets take each day and dedicate it to God's desires. If letting go is not to regret the past, but to grow and live for the future. We will not regret the price that God paid for it.In letting go we should fear less and love God more.

Hi,
I'm new to this forum but have been involved with alanon for a few years now. I just wanted to say that letting go is exactly what I needed to hear today! It's hard to watch someone u love kill themselves with alcohol but I am trusting in God's plan!
