And then I found Alanon..

I wrote this poem quite a while before I got sick enough to seek help.  I look back and see just how far down the black hole I had fallen.  Thank Heaven I went to Alanon.

THE BOOK
The story never changes and the chapters never end.
I want to close this book, so my heart can mend.
The pages turn and years go by..
This book is bound by tears I cry.
It's pages are numbered by wasted years
The numbers grow as old age nears.
Is this it for me? My book of life?
Should I close this book? Let it gather dust?
To save myself, I feel I must.
This book is old, cracking, it's pages turning brown.
I want to close this book,
Walk away
Put it down.

Aloha Christy!!

Wonderful poem. My sentiments exactly when I first came to Al-Anon. In fear I let it all go. In faith I rewrite the story.

((((hugs)))))

This is a great poem...I can relate.  Here is one I wrote:
Hi, I am your husband...
...I don't think we have ever met.

You won't have to worry about taking me to social events, I promise, there will be no incidents.

I won't leave you home alone many nights because I am 'working.'

You won't have to worry about me killing anyone because I drive drunk.

I promise to pick up the phone because I will not have to hide my drinking from you.

I am new and improved, I am your husband.

I am not like the person you met and fell in love with...I am different now. Hopefully I will be a better person.

Hi, I am your husband, I don't think we have ever met.

Even in your darkest hour in 2003, you didnt ever let on or complain about how bad you felt.  You just kept working it!  That's how it is should be. A+

Sure you vented, to get it off your chest, but then you were done.

I'm so happy for you and Spark.
