Happy Mardi Gras

Happy Mardi Gras - from Southwest Louisiana -

I looked for an emoticon that was in the likeness of "Beads" but couldn't find one - so can't have a virtual parade to "Throw me somethin' Mister" or share a piece of "King Cake" - If you get the baby, you have to buy the next "King Cake".

Tomorrow is Mardi Gras.  Still think the name of the holiday should be "Party Gras" instead of "Mardi Gras" - because believe me if you have never experienced Mardi Gras - that is what it is - a BIG, BIG party.

Pass the  & start the craziness!!!!!!

Prior to recovery - I HATED this holiday (along with most other holidays) because of the drama & other behaviors that go long with festivals, holidays, etc.  Today, I know I don't have to participate.  Sometimes I go to the parades, sometimes I don't.  I can go, enjoy the decorations, beautiful costumes, fellowship with friends and LEAVE when it gets to much.  Or I can stay home if I don't want to go at all.

Whatever works for me.  Wow - How freeing is that????? I think that is what I enjoy the most about recovery "Freedom".  Don't you?

So anyway - If you happen for some strange reason to be in the Southern part of Louisiana tomorrow - be careful - it will be a wild, eventful day.  But this lady will be happy, joyous & free no matter what those crazy cajuns decide to do!!

See ya,
Rita

(((Rita)))

We were supposed to go this year and stay with some friends of mine.  I can't say that I'm too upset that our plans got foiled.  You're right its just one big drink fest.  I remember working Mardi Gras for many years as a teen, I couldn't believe people would get drunk, get sick, and then drink some more, all in the name of FUN!!!  I loved the parades as a child, but today I am content to sit it out myself.  Not interested in the drama or the nasty smells of alcohol that are around.  I'll catch something on T.V.  Whatever you do, enjoy the day!!

Hugs,
Twinmom~

((((((((((((((Rita)))))))))))))),

Happy Mardi Gras!    Glad to see that part of our world is getting back to some normalcy.  It's been through sooo much.  I've never had a King Cake and would love to order one. They sound yummy.    I hope you have a wonderful time.

Love and blessings to you and your family.

Live strong,
Karilynn & Pipers Kitty
