Favorite pamphlet

Hi all,

I love the pamphlet of 'alcoholism the family disease'  It's pretty basic and easy to read.  If you can get your hands on one, check out the maturity guidelines...they are very informative LOL!  Seems like I always have one lying around somewhere.  Who do I relate too?  The youngest daughter, for sure! I so should have been an alateen!  I'm a little late now LOL

What's your favorite one?

My favorite pamplet is "Merry go round of denial".  We had been talking about it in the chat room and a roomie typed out part of it for me.  I couldn't believe my eyes.  It was that day I really saw how I played a huge part in the choas of our lives.  I couldn't wait to get ahold of the whole pamplet, so I got myself to a meeting.  It was a beginners meeting with a great group of people, who gave me a handful of literature.  Sure enough that pamplet was there.

I saved what that person typed for me that day.

She is the provoker------- she is hurt and upset by repeated drinking episodes but she holds the family together despite all the trouble caused by drinking. In turn she feeds back into the marriage her bitterness, resentments fears and hurt and so becomes the source of provication. She tries to control, she tries to force the changes, she wants and sacrifices and adjusts, she never gives up...

Living with a man whose illness is alcoholism, she attempts to be a nurse, doctor,,and councellor, She cannot play these three roles without hurting herself and her husband. She is so upset that she cannot talk to her husband without adding more guilt bitterness resentment or hostility to the situation which is almost unbearable already.

Thank god for alanon!

Carol

The "blue print for progress" guide for the 4th step is my most favorite.  I find most of the conference approved literature is very helpful.
