6 year old self love

Hi all

Just wanted to share what made my day today.

My 6 year old daughter was showing me her schoolwork folder and in it was something she had written at school....she is learning to write by herself and sounds out the words without asking for help...those of you with kids probably remember the sweetness of the misspellings..... it reminded me a bit of me trying to do this recovery work ....doing something I have never done before and to try and let my mistakes have the sweetness of an earnest beginner....to see my mistakes as a natural part of the process, to remember to smile at them, to not let them be so monumental.

Best of all was the message she had written....

"I love me I love my sulf"

Moved me to tears.
I pray I learn from my daughter how to better love my sulf too.

May you all love your sulfs today - mistakes and all !

Love, fifi

How very sweet and what a wonderful thing to run across!  HP does work in mysterious ways!

I'm still at the non-spelling stage...but the oldest is writing his name and thankfully vocalizes he loves me.  My youngest...well, he Lub me.

So, here's to luv-ing our sulfs and lubbing our sulfs too!

We must all love our "sulfs" to get along successfully in the world. It is good that your 6 yo understands this. How sweet. See that she continues loving "hersulf."

Fifi, I'm sure your daughter learned this from you.  Isn't it amazing to see the positive effect this program has, not only on ourselves, but on the people in our lives!

I remember one time I went to an open AA meeting with my A and after the meeting we were all standing outside talking. There was a playground right next to us and as we were talking we were watching the children playing. Our topic happened to be how to live life one day at a time. An old timer was with us and he said, "If you want to truly learn how to live life, just watch the children." We all looked at the kids and he said, "Look at them. They have not 1 care in the world. They are not worrying about what happened an hour ago, let alone a day or more ago. They are also not concerned with what is going to happen later. They live in the here and now and enjoy everything that is in the present." For me that hit home. We have 3 small children of our own and his words were so true. Children have the wonderful ability to let go any wrongs and injustices done to them, or even by them, so very quickly. They don't hold grudges, don't seek revenge and certainly don't sit and dwell on things that simply don't matter to what is happening in present time. They also see the humor in mistakes made by others and very seldom take them to heart. I think we all need to start living like children again.

Andilynn...thanks for your words....you know what else children do...they speak their needs...they cry when they are sad....they hug when they need comfort...most of all I think about how they speak their little minds. Another thing I hope to model after them!

love fifi
