Happiness isn't a goal... its a choice!

(((((Everyone)))))

Tiger and BlueCloud have inspired me to explore how well I am dealing with what is acceptable to me.  Then I ran across the mySpace page for a friend of mine because I lost track of his phone number.  (You lose touch with folks when you bury your head in your A-spouses sandbox)

His profile had this quote on it - "Happiness isn't a goal... its a choice!"

It has always annoyed my AW that I have been happy in the face of all sorts of struggles.  It occurs to me that I was capable of being happy while I was allowing people to trample all over my boundries.

So all of that was spinning around in my head and it seemed to jell like this.... Happiness may be a choice, but a fulfilling life takes planning, action and boundries.

Todays random thoughts from a greatful Alanon....

Take care of you!

Neat thought!

My parents always said--Fake it til you feel it!!!  (Attitudewise)  While sometimes I still find it hard to be happy when some things are happening in my life, it is true I can choose to wallow (I like that word) in it or I can choose to do something about it.  Normally I wallow for a day or two then I choose to act!  With a little harder work the wallowing will get shorter and the acting will get faster!

Thanks for sharing,

Dawn

Yes, I know the A-sandbox, trying to avoid sticking my head in it at them moment myself. I admire your ability to be happy in the face of adversity. I am learning but often find that very hard.

I couldn't agree more....

I don't think I can recall the exact words, but my sponsor used to remind me to

"stop chasing happiness..... live life, and let happiness find you!"

Most certainly!!!

We can choose to be happy, choose how to react to adverse situations, in fact, as I've said, I believe....We can create not only our days, but our lives. Every choice we have made has led us to where we are. So, if you don't like where you are, choose and create a different path. It's do-able!!

Well I know I have been truly struggling this month with a mountain of despair. When I turned it over and started working the tools things changed for me. I can't say I am happy but I am "focused".  I do know I do not have to sit in a vat or recrimination and resentment (I've pretty much been there all my life).
