Why can't I keep my mouth shut?

What is wrong with me? Several times today I have critisized my AH in a way that I know is going to belittle him. First I told him his work wasn't getting the attention it needed. Then I told him his pants were dirty. Now I just asked him if he has a buzz!

I know these are such little things, but if they were said to me by him I would be infuriated, so if he is mad at me he has every right!

Shut your mouth woman!!

Thanks, just venting.

LOL!  My mouth is the same way!  I try so hard not to be like my mother and guess what?  The tapes keep on a playing in your head!  When I realize I am doing this to my daughter I stop!  I try to explain to her how I am learning and I apologise.  Makes us both feel better even though my words may have made her feel bad.

One day at a time.......

Sometimes when I notice that I am having a tough time keeping my mouth shut (& it does happen to me ) it usually means that I need to apply HALT

Hungry, Angry, Lonely or Tired - I usually need some self-care - I need to take care of me.  I know that this is a busy weekend, but can you slip a few hours of You time - take a nap, a relaxing walk, treat your self to some quiet time - whatever helps you relax - it usually helps me have a little more control over my quick wit & sharp tongue - which is better for everyone.

Hope that you are able to get the stress relief you deserve,

Rita

I've found my little slice of heaven in a store called Lush.  (Yikes, I can't believe I just wrote that on Al-Anon message board!!)  Really, it's not how it sounds .  Lush (http://www.lush.com/)  is a bath and body store that makes all-natural hand-made products - kind of on the pricey side but I love their bath bombs and bubble bars.  The bubble bars are soft and you can just break off a piece instead of using the whole thing.  But taking a bath with these products is heavenly!!  They smell great, they make your skin soft, & they have things like flower petals, glitter, or little messages inside.  It's worth the little bit of personal indulgence.  A lot of them have essential oils that help you relax too.

I agree with Rita. When I am in that mode I am needing HALT badly. I had to learn where my limits were I had none and the A certainly has none so I have to have them.
