my story

It seems we have some new comers, so I thought I'd tell my story again, especially since it's changed a little. I've been on this board for 1 year, 8 months, 11 days. So here's my story:

I am an only child. My mom has been an A all my life - even while she had me.From the time I was a baby to the age of 8 I did not really realize she was a drinker or at least I don't feel I did. My mom raised me by herself (she had help from family from birth to 5 years old but basically alone). Then, we moved and she raised me single-handedly until I was 8). When I was 8 she got a boyfriend, who is also an A and I consider him my dad. They have been together ever since. I am now 19 soon to be 20. From the age of 8 to about 13 I went to the bars with my parents and made friends with the adults at the bars along with the son of one of my parents' friend's that didn't drink who was the DD (in case you don't know that means Designated Driver).

While I grew up I made a good friend. Herand I went to school together and hung out after school and on the weekends. I slept over at her house but she rarely slept at mine because I was embarassed by my home situation.

I was so glad when I got to college that I was far away from the environment. At first it was the reason I was there. I dreaded going home for breaks. I screened my calls some times too - if I did end up talking to my parents when they were drunk after I got off the phone I was in a bad mood for a while.

More to come later possibly.
