son's court date is scheduled yet again

((((((((((friends))))))))))))

My son's (Ryan) sentencing hearing is scheduled for Oct. 30.  As many of you know, this has been postponed and rescheduled many times.  I so want to get off the roller coaster and so does my son.  So, those of you that have been so kind to pray and feel led to continue to pray, I am asking that you pray that not only things go well, but that it goes forth for sure.  We need closure to this case.  Ryan is keeping a positive attitude and I am proud of him for that. He trusts HP (whom he calls God) and has faith that the outcome will be what is meant to be.  He, in fact, inspires me to remain calm and have faith.  He has been clean for almost 19 months now and working hard at his recovery.

I am, thanks to so many of you.......doing well in my recovery, too.  I am so honored and touched by so many of you asking about Ryan and how he is doing and offering up prayers for both him and for me, as well as our whole family.  I appreciate that so very much.  I have grown so much being in this place and I am thankful to you, dear friends.  HP (whom I call God) is in control and I do know that.  I may let down and find myself being afraid for my son sometimes, but somehow God sends one of you dear angels to remind me that He is there and through you working on me.  Thank you so very much for caring about me and my son and for accepting me just as I am.

Thanking you in advance for your prayers!

Love and blessings to each of you ~ Lexie

Boy do I  understand what you are going through.  My son who is 13 years old is also going through a court process.  We are one date away from the judges decision and are waiting for an evaluator to come do a home evaluation and report back to the judge.  We go back to court on November 15th for the judges decision.  Unfortunately for him, he is in a not so good place spiritually. But for me, I can see my HP working in a powerful way.  My hope is and still remains that my son will learn some very valuable truths as he sees what one poor choice can lead to.

We are never alone in the situations that we find ourselves in.  Shortly after I found myself going through this with my son, another fellow member in my f2f meeting found herself having to go through this with her son as well.  Our boys are starting out young, but the disease is a family disease and I don't forget that for one minute.  I'm extremely grateful that I have the tools of this program to keep my thinking in perspective and not become insane in the process.  I'm sure your experience will prove helpful to another.

Prayers and Blessings!

Cilla

Hi Lexie,

God's timing is perfect.....I will continue to pray for you, your son and your family.  May God surround you with His perfect peace, may His grace and mercy keep you.  God Bless...

Hello Lexie,

I am new to the board and fairly new to Alanon. I've read your posts, and really feel for you and your son. As a mother of an alcoholic and addict, just starting MY recovery, I am beginning to know just how difficult it is to detatch.

My 22 year old daughter is facing courtdates for a 2nd DUI, along with several other drunk driving related charges. No one was injured, so that is the blessing. Her courtdate has been postponed, as she has gone (voluntarily) into an inpatient rehab program. We (my husband and I, her attorney, her counselors, etc) have all told her that "it is not about getting out of trouble, but about staying out of trouble." She seems today to be committed to working her program, and I understand that only time will tell if she will be successful in her sobriety from alchohol and drugs.

My husband and I are really torn on how to help her past her rehab stay. She has no money (she's been a college student) and wants to return to our home after her rehab ends, and the court and lawyer fees are looming. We struggle with how much help will be too much, as she recovers faces the consequences of her actions.

You seem like someone who may be able to offer some ideas, share experience. Any response appreciated - thank you, Kabbie
