he stayed away

Hi everyone,
I just need to vent today, I suppose. I know there's nothing I can do, but I still worry.

He left the house yesterday morning when I was out. I called him when I got back. He said he'd be back in a couple of hours. (I knew he was dying to drink and I don't allow drink in my house.)

Anyway, he didn't come back. Its now over 24 hours. I'm trying to detatch, not to worry but it's tough. I know he didn't go to work today either (amazed he still has a job, it won't last long more I suspect).

I imagine he's at his drinking friends house and will come back eventually, full of remorse. This has happened once or twice in the past. The difference is that I usually have to call him, just to check he's okay for my own peace of mind. I didn't do that this time.

How pitiful and how sad.

I tell myself that each episode like this is bringing him closer to his bottom.

I chose to enjoy my favourite tv programes in his absence, without his constant derogatory comments of late.

Thanks for listening
AM

Great example of Let Go and Let God and Detaching with Love.  Sounds like you did the next best thing for yourself.  Your A will have to deal with whatever mess he created by disappearing and not showing up for work.  I think you are right, each time they go out or make a bad choice due to the drinking it creates a consequence, the consequence envokes a reaction, and the reaction leads to another choice.  Each time I believe as well it brings a person closer to their bottom.  I hope you have a great day, and do something nice for you.

You sound strong in spite of everything.  My prayers are with you and your AH.  It is so hard not to worry and obsess, but it is a process, isn't it?  I remember just being so frantic earlier this year, but thanks to this board and the advice, it is so much easier to do what you said, just enjoy some good tv and have some peace.

This is such a hard life to live.  Thank God for this program and the people we meet here.  We can lift each other up and teach each other so much.  It is a blessing.

Love and luck,
