alot of things

I have been in Alanon for going 2yrs in Nov both on the site here and face to face meeting. Lately I have had a hard time getting my self to meeting. I have stayed in touch with my sponsor that was very important. She has helped me the whole time. She tells me that this is normal to want to space myself from the program. I have started to miss going to the meeting so I am working on getting myself to go to them. I have started back more online and helping people now in the post boards.

Yesterday I got finally got my self checked out for female issue. I haven't had a check out since I was 19 yrs old. Everything is fine she gave me birth control which I have never been on before.

In two weeks I am going to be turning 30 and I am very upset about that. I don't want to but it going to happen.

Nycbt:  I had a very very hard time turning 30. I thought it symbolized a lot of things. For me it was a turning point to really start looking at my self and I am still at it.

I made it through 30.  I did not think  I would.  I felt very down on myself at the time. I wish I had alanon then.

I am sorry you are having a hard time. I am so very glad to hear you have a sponsor who is "there" for you.

Perhaps it's time to take service work to the next level. Volunteering at central office; bringing al anon meetings to the rehab centers or the prisons; bringing alateen to the juvenile halls; if you're feeling like "Is this all I have in al anon?" maybe it's time to bring your program to the next level.

Also remember we are a program for living. Are there any service organizations in your community you feel passionate about?

((((((((NYCBT)))))))))

I have been in exactly the same place as you.  Have not been to f2f meetings because I just needed space.  I felt that I could not post because my challenges were not alcohol related.  Boy was I wrong!  All my issues seem to still be alcohol related!

I am sure u have heard that life begins at 40?  I had my only child 1 week before I turned 41.  It was not planned and it changed my life completely.  She is 5 now and my greatest joy!  So do not fear growing older the best is yet to come!

I think alot of people have a hard time when they are turning 30. I did! I can remember even being upset when my mother turned 30. I was probably 9 or 10. I think it is because you are not in you 20's anymore. Everyone looked forward to their 20's so when they turn 30 that is now all behind them.

I thought I was going to have a hard time with 40...but I didn't. Then I thought 50...nope! That 30 got me though.

Now I just hope and pray that I can make it to 60...lol!

As Justme said, my hardest age to accept was 30 also. Made it through 40&50 ok. Honey, we're just like a good bottle of wine, we improve with age, LOL!

Keep taking care of you, glad to see you back, had wondered where you were. Love, TLC
