Has any one read 7 weeks to sobriety?

Just wanted to know if anyone read this book and tried the plan? Thanks

Have not read the book, but have read "Getting Them Sober" and then read volumes 2,3, and 4.  Helped me get a grip on myself when I was flailing about obsessing about my AH.

Will have to look up this book you mentioned.  Is the plan for you or for the A in your life?  Just wondering.

Thanks for responding, it’s for A however it has been shown to have a 75% success rate as opposed to the 25% for AA.   I believe in the holistic approach whenever possible.  I know I should only focus on myself  but believe this could be helpful ,A is willing to try. We keep talking about how this is a

Disease than why can't we try some medication?

 Thanks

Wow, I wish they had a 7 Weeks to Al-Anon Recovery book out!  Just kidding, then I wouldn't need all the kind folks that this board has brought into my life.

My feelings are, if your A is willing to try the program, why not.  I wouldn't get too concerned about the percentages, tho.  Your A might just be in the 25%!

Just remember the 3 C's, kingston, that you don't cause it, you can't control it, and you can't cure it.  For me, I think that is true, with or without the A going to AA.  Pretty much sums up the disease aspect, I think.  I mean, we don't cause cancer, we can't cure it, and we can't control it.  That doesn't mean we can't be there for our A's.

I would be willing to study up on a variety of treatments.  Everyone is different. But, I know for me to survive, that I need the Al-Anon treatment. That has worked for me when nothing else has.  The A is free to find whatever help he needs, and I would be supportive.  Unless it involved something really weird or immoral, or illegal! But, the way things are with him, it doesn't look like it will be anytime soon, if ever.  But, you just never know.

I do highly suggest the "Getting Them Sober" books for you, tho.  They even have a website under the same name.  Lots and lots of good info.  And, remember, what is good for you, is good for the alcoholic.  Even a change in your attitude can have an outcome on the situation.

Let me know how things are going.m  Keep coming back!
