My turn...Lone Member Services??prayers for my SS hearing needed

I read last nite Sept 6 Hope for Today about Lone Member Services? Does anyone know how I can find out more about this? I could go for this Lone Member Services. I would appreciate any more information.

I am like this Geographically challenged (30 to 45 miles one way), disabled ( I sometimes need help to do things like lifting or carrying heavy stuff for example. there is more.)  & somewhat agoraphopic ( I am working on that) I still do not like crowded places. I do not like being out after dark and driving home that far. I will fall asleep usually on the way home plus I can not see well at night.

I finally have a SS hearing Oct 4th. I have a lawyer who would not take my case unless he knew I would win so this is a good thing. I have been disabled since 1995. I applied until 1999 I was denied after the hearing. I gave up & tried Vocational Rehab for 4 years. VR finally sent a letter to Dept of Labor who in turn sent a letter to SS stating they could not find me any work so please look into benefits for me. So for 3 years now I have been waiting for a hearing to be scheduled.

As for the elderly man I sit for, it is a private arrangement kinda like a babysitting. As my boss said it is not a permanent thing. He is dying. But I am thinking she likes me and my work, she will call me in on another patient in the future when this ends.

Yesterday, I went to a friends house after work. We worked on getting her ready for a big animal adoptathon weekend Sept 15,16 & 17. I got her set up with Petfinder.com. She had another page to complete. We got the phone numbers for Petco & PetPoint. She is going to ask them questions prior to setting up with them. I told her about a low cost spay & nueter program. she called the Dept of Ag found out her own vet is participating and never told her. She is set up with about 4 vets now. She had been paying close to full price for shelter animals. I plan on going back over there soon to get help her get pictures of her adoptive animals online. She is so funny & great to be around. She is the one who called my A a drunk on the phone. I feel she gave me parting gifts a big box of frozen butterfly shrimp & 2 bags of tortilla wraps.

I got home the car is fixed. the truck needed more transmission fluid. Our next door neighbors came over around 11pm. One of her sons (27) was drunk & on pills. He was released from a mental place. The people he was living with took all his money and threw him out. The mom said she could not let him sleep on the streets so she let him in her home.

They came over because he fell about 4 steps out of their mobile home & was laying on the ground. They do not have a phone. We called 911 out here is not easy to get them to come out. Ambulance finally came out. they waited for the sheriff ( who was asleep but came out). The son can be suicidal , violent & combative while under the influence. They went to the wrong address. Then they turned around & went into the driveway.the sheriff went to us then around the block then in the driveway. He asked them why their son was in his county not the next county over. Anyway they took the son to the hospital then he will go to a mental hospital in Columbus when he is released. The problem is the son signs himself in and out. Well It is not my business. We told them untill he wants help he will not change.

It is raining. I woke up with the alarm this moring reset the clock & slept too long. I guess I needed it. I am not on a schedule too much today other than my Alanon meeting noon to 1pm. It is my pace , my time, my day.

Ya'll have a great day!

((((hugs to you))))

I don't know anything about that program, but you sure have a lot going on in your life.  You have my prayers and best wishes for peace and luck in your SS hearing.

Take care of you!

I believe you would contact World Service Office in Virginia Beach re Lone Member services.

Have you considered open AA meetings local to your area?

Here is the website to find meetings that WSO lists and there is also a link on that same page for information on the Lone Member service.

http://www.al-anon.org/meetings/meeting.html

www.al-anon.org is a great website with lots of info on it. You can read excerpts from the Forum, order literature, etc. Explore it and have some fun!

Luv, Kis

DEA:

My prayers and good vibes to you for a successful SS hearing.... it sounds like you have a lot going on.

Some quiet time always helps me in times of turmoil.  Just to sit, with no tv, no radio, no noise.  We live in such a chaotic world with so much spinning around.  It is very good for your soul and your mind to just sit and be still.

Good luck and love,

HeidiXXXX

Hi,

I am a lone member in Australia.  I live in a very isolated town with no al-anon groups close by nearest being 400kms away.  I chose to contact them and they in turn were very helpful.  I have a lady who keeps in contact with me to see how I am going. I chose to do this by email but you can have someone ring you if you wish.  I also receive regular mail postings with al-anon member stories and meeting places.  My anonymity in the organisation is maintained even by mail as all correspondence is sent out without the al-anon logo on it.  Hope this helps.  ((()) Leo xxx
