re; bullying behaviour

Hi All,

Still having problems with my short term job. One member of staff has tried to make my life hell this summer, I have been under constant surveillance. Unfortunately though this job finishes next week  I will still need to have contact and as his behaviour is getting worse in relation to unreasonable requests I am wondering whether I should give up other work that I do for him. It was a maintenance contract for a web site and I was supposed to be paid 240 a month for content management. He reneged on this querying the bill after the work was done and we re-negotiated a new agreement whereupon the work would take place in september and october and January and February.  I ended up just getting half the money and have not been paid for it yet! There would no longer be full time service as that was not being paid for. I am just sick of having to deal with this person as they are untrustworthy and I have ended up seriously out of pocket, plus I have had to put up with a crap attitude from them.

Marie,
I would say that maybe letting go of any toxic relationship is very helpful in our recovery. I hope you are able to do what is best for you.

I was taught to pray for anyone that causes me pain. Odds are, their life is so full of pain already that they are really reacting to a world that is "hateful" (as they see it).

Hate that you are having this difficult work relationship - was the original agreement in writing?  How about the second agreement?  You might consider before working with this person again that a written contract may be necessary - You are doing a job and you deserve to get paid for that job!!

Our low self-esteem sometimes keeps us from standing up for ourselves and tends to let pushy people "walk all over" us.  Maybe try reading some info on boundaries and unacceptable behavior.  Establishing set guidelines for the work agreement prior to working with this person and standing firm in those agreements may give you the respect and money that you deserve.  Also, it doesn't hurt to open that communication with your HP to ask for help in finding a more peaceful work environment and start looking - who knows what may be in store for you ?

Good luck,

Rita

Thank you all for your perspective on this, it has been very helpful. I did not have the first agreement in writing and was just about to slip into the second arrangement without it in writing also. I will clarify this today. I appreciate all your help.
