(((daisy)))) just wanted to say hi, and welcome!  Glad to meet you!  In Alanon, there are several other "initials" that I have learned.  One is ESH, which stands for Experience, Strength, and Hope.  You will find that here, among friends who understand.  Any time you have a question, feel free to post it, someone will answer!  On another note, I see you are in Ireland.  I was born on St. Patrick's Day.....does that make me Irish???  Actually, my ancestors were

Anyway, glad to see you are here.

Love in Recovery,

Becky1

Hi Becky,

you might be more Irish than i am

I'm Czech living in Ireland, i'm nothing like Irish people. I found them drinking nation, which is the part of our problem. They saying, im drinking becouse i'm irish. It worked for a while, but i've seen its rubbish. They feel if everybody has a probelem, no one has problem, in other words, look at Joe from next door, he drinks much more that i do and he is not A...and so on.

Its awful to see young kids age of 12 start drinking at home with their parents, glass of wine with dinnes is normal, or a can of beer. Hate it!!!

Hi Daisy:

You know it is funny that I have a birthday on almost the biggest drinking day here in the U.S., and as far back as I know, I am Irish on my mother's side, of which we know of no alcoholic problem.  But, my Dad died of alcoholic liver problems when I was 16, and 1 of his brothers was an A, as well as uncle, etc.

The one thing I do like about having my birthday on St. Patrick's Day is no one ever forgets it!

I know what you mean about people saying "well, look at (insert name) he drinks WAY more than me, and has had more DUI's than me, etc.  It's that way here in the U.S. also.  Very sad way to rationalize their drinking.

Glad to meet you.  How did you end up in Ireland anyway?

Love in Recovery,

Becky1

Hi Becky, my Irish sis

i end up here by "mistake" about 6 years ago. I really wanted to go to U.S. where i had some friends, but i met this girl i knew from our teen years and she was planning to go to Ireland. She lived abroad many years and had Irish boyfriend. She was willing to take me with her, even i had no english or any expirience. Met the guy here, stayed here. Thats about it, very simple. In 6 years i learned a lot about people and life, i'm 30 going on 50. I feel so f... grown up it makes me sick

Just joking

I have my new life here, met my current partner 2 years ago and i'm in love with him since. He has problem with the booze, but he is working on it so hard, i have to say, if he doesnt make, no one will. I'm very optimistic. If he does have a slip, we will deal with it. He lost alot in his life allready, he doesnt want to do more damage anymore, and understand what alcohol does to his head.

Just hoping and praying for the best, thats all i can do, the rest is up to him.

Love Daisy
