Hmm, wondering exactly how nuts I am.

Hi all,

Ok so it you read the previous post about Chanting the Serenity Prayer wanting to cry, you know my care went back to the shop today.

Well it wasn't ready to be picked up when I got off work, so I took the ferry home. When I got to the other side of the water it started to rain. I had no jacket and no umbrella. My girls were wearing dresses and my son was in shorts. They all had jackets. I was so glad of that.

When I got to the daycare (walking distance from the ferry) I walked in and the director asked me if I was ok. I had fought the tears all day, until then. I said yes, lol but the tears came. So I talked to her for a bit. Told her what happened. I was offered a ride by several people, but there is a car seat law here, so I really could get a ride. No big deal really the bus stops across the street from the daycare.

So the kids and I leave daycare, I am actually feeling better because of the cry, and I was going to let myself cry tonight after the kids went to bed. We waited for the bus, the kids were able to stand under an awning of a bar to stay dry, lol I saw humor in a bar helping my kids. Then we got on the bus. Which took us to a transfer station.  Where we had to get off and catch another bus. It wasn't raining anymore, so the kids and I saw the blessing in that. In fact is stopped raining and we are now safe at home.

When I walk through the door the machine was flashing that I had a message. I checked it. They took my car for a drive, and nothing happened. Nothing! So they wanted me to come get it. I called them back and said that I couldn't get it tonight but would be there first thing in the morning. The shop foreman said that he wanted me to drive it with a mechanic in the car tomorrow. His words were so that I could break it lol. I said it figures that the car behaves for the mechanics, but I need to figure out why it doesn't like me .

So that is the plan. LOL I am so confused, but I am grateful for the step 2 meeting and you all for being here.

Yours in recovery,

Dolphin123

From what you have shared with me.... not at all nuts.  Caring and compassionate maybe, but not nuts. ;)

If they drained your tranny to "inspect it", it may never slip again.  Valvoline makes some fluid that is blended for older transmissions.  I put it in a ford truck and it went 70k miles and I sold it without tearing it apart.  Don't give up on it yet.

Bet you a dollar the kids had fun stomping around in the rain.  Mine do.  They think its funny when we get caught out in the weather.

You are taking good care of those kiddos, rain and dirt don't hurt.

Above all .... Take care of you!  You deserve it.

Don't you just hate it when the car acts up for you and the mechanic or the "male" figure in your life says "Darlin' I don't hear anything" - Boy, that's one of those times I'd like to hit them upside the head with a baseball bat and say "Did you hear that honey?" This is why they tell me "Keep coming back!" (lol)

From all my expertise in vehicle knowledge, I hope it was just a little trash in the carborator - whatever that means -

Great job on doing the Next Right Thing and taking care of you and the kids,

Hope your weekend is calm and peaceful,

Rita

Sounds to me like you did really good and those lovely children of yours are SO lucky to have you as their Mum.

Hope everything works out with the car. I know how it feels to be carless or have car troubles. (A managed to wreck mine a few times)

You show great strength of character dear one.
