Did anyone see Dr. Phil today?

Dr. Phil was on a family whose son was using drugs. I related so much to the mom! The son seemed to be doing well with treatment after 2 weeks but as alot of us know, that is just the begining of the long life battle with addiction. Not only for the son, but for the entire family. I sure related to that show! cdb

I didn't see it, but I wish I had. Maybe some of it will be on his website.

Thanks,

Doxie

Hi cdb.   I hope you're sleeping well right now while I'm up at 4 + a.m. worrying about something else not quite as intense as your situation.   So I've been reading posts to gather more wisdom, and came across yours from the other day.    I was in chat tonight when you mentioned  your post.   I didn't hear the whole situation there, and now I have from your post.

There is nothing I can add to what the others responded, but you have my sympathy and understanding, and certainly my thoughts and prayers are for your health as well as the other two.

Please try not to get caught in the middle.  This has been one of my major challenges recently, and I know it is totally unhealthy for me to be in the middle of any conflict in the family.   I am refusing to be put there to the best of my ability.   It's hard when you have spent your life in the middle .    New actions bring new results, repeat....

Best to you,  your friend Peewee

Hi cdb,

No, I didn't see Dr Phil as I can't. I'm in the UK and they have changed the tv channel that airs his shows. The channel is on a package I can't afford to upgrade to but I miss his shows. He addresses real concerns in a no-nonsense, 'you need to help yourself' way. I saw a show on alcoholism once which I also found extremely enlightening. Sometimes i see a connection to the things he says and tenets of our program. Reminders to work our program, for us are everywhere if you have the eyes to see lol!

If you don't get to see the Dr. Phil shows, you can go to drphil.com and get on the message boards for each show. I'm sure there's a huge message board on the show you referred to as well as the one that aired this morning, June 30th. It was about Mothers addicted to pain killers. It was quite compelling and I'm sure the message board will get you up-to-date on anything that you missed.

Hope this helps!

As a rule I dont watch many talk shows. However if you are interested, there is an eye-opening program on A&E channel which is called Intervention. It deals with true stories of addiction. It airs here in Canada on Sunday nights. Take care,, gardengal

Oh, I went to the American Idol message boards at the end of the show. It made me laugh and was quite interesting. I think I will check Dr. Phil's site out to see the dialogue there. Thanks for the tip of that. Yes, I saw the Intervention shows and they really set off some major feelings in me. I felt they were very educational too since they showed people actually doing drugs. I wasn't sure I liked how they did the interventions, but different strokes for different folks. I bet it costs and arm and a leg to hire and interventionist!

Thanks for your support too about my situation. It is not easier or harder than anyone's else. It just is,,,alcoholism/drug addiction. My daughter seems to be doing so much better already! I brought her some items today and her dog. He was so happy to see her! I am not sure if I could be as strong as her. I am still very angry at my husband but have not talked about my feelings yet. No one deserves to be abused even if it is verbally. I am relying on my HP/God to help guide me with this and any quick decisions for me now is not a good idea. I actually felt happy today :) Thanks again for the insightful replies. cdb xoxoxo
